Damned good theory!
Trinity would assume that Dexter called the cops wouldn’t he? He was right there when he tried to kill the kid.
Thing is, Dexter does not want Trinity (or the rest of his family shield) at Miami Metro in any form other than dead - Dexter has been way too visible to them, and especially Jonah - cops ask Jonah what happened, he’d turn on Dexter in a moment.
But Jonah helped Dexter track Arthur down, even after seeing Dex go after him with a knife. Was Jonah in the “protect daddy” pile on Thanksgiving?
Maybe the twist is that Rebecca or the wife kills Arthur. If I had to choose, it’d be the wife. She’s on the brink of something.
The Arthur character has really creeped me out this season. I guess that means that John Lithgow is doing a fantastic job with the character. To be honest, it’s kept me from wanting to watch some of the episodes, though; I’ve watched from the sidelines, distracting myself somewhat to keep from being creeped out too much.
I don’t know what’s going to happen in the last two episodes and speculation has been giving me goosebumps. Dexter the character doesn’t seem to bother me (heh and he probably should) as much as the Arthur character does. I -do- want to see him dead at the end of the season though - I don’t want the possibility of him coming back next season!
I still think it’s possible Arthur lives at the end of the season. That would be a very big twist. Or maybe he dies in an unexpected way like a car wreck or heart attack.
I’d call that a cop out. I could see a twist being Jonah killing the Dad (or helping Dex) or Dexter somehow finding a way to get everything all setup so Deb could arrest him and have an airtight case.
Actually, I could see that happening, then if somehow he gets released we’ll have a cat and mouse game next season.
You misunderstood - or I didnt explain it very well - Jonah would not be protecting Arthur, but himself - by turning on Dexter.
No. I misunderstood. I’ve done that a lot in this thread.
I’d like to know what turned Arthur into a killer. Shall we assume we don’t know the whole story about what happened with Vera? Arthur says he surprised her in the bathroom and she fell against the shower door. That’d be traumatic for a kid, but it’s not enough. Did his parents blame him for her death?
Something else I’m confused about, maybe because I haven’t seen all of the episodes. Christine said she saw Arthur kill a woman in a bathtub when she was five years old, and then 30 years later he killed another woman in the same house. Did she say she saw the second killing too? Or did she just assume it was Arthur because it was the same house and the same m.o.?
I believe he said that his father was always a drinker, but after his sister died and his mother killed herself, he got much worse and blamed/beat Arthur because of it.
I think Christine recognized the house when it she was reporting on the season opener with the girl in the bathtub.
I do think there’s something we don’t know yet, something analogous to Trinity abducting ten year old boys in order to try and ‘save their innocence’ – remember, that’s how the kill cycle starts.
As for the ‘big twist’, to throw out some wild-ass speculation: Deb finds out about her brother’s hobby, but lets him go through with Trinity – perhaps because they couldn’t build a case against him and had to let him off the hook.
She was outside the house as a reporter, asking Quinn about the murder - which he brushed off as probably being a suicide. IIRC.
Thanks. I’m kinda glad I missed some episodes this season. It’ll be fun to watch the repeats and look for the hints about Christine.
But I’ll fast-forward the scenes with Rita.
Whhhhhhy?
It’s a bit worse than that. He stood just outside the bathroom door watching his sister masturbating in the shower. So wrong on so many levels. She noticed him and freaked out, falling through the glass door which kills her. His mother never recovers and kills herself, while his father blames and beats on him. Basically, Trinity’s perversion killed his family when he was 10 years old. That has to do a number on you.
So, who is Christine’s mother? Arthur’s family doesn’t appear to be aware of her, or he’d be able to see her more than twice a year. But she’s 35 years old, 15 years older than Jonah. That’s a big gap. I don’t recall Arthur ever saying he had been married before, but I could have missed it.
She’s Rudy’s half sister.

My Wild assed Theory about the twist.
Dexter is forced to Kill Trinity in front of one or more of his family members to protect them from him. Or Trinity reveals to the family that he knows Dexter killed a man leading to Rita discovering Dexter’s secret. (though with his stuff now in a container it makes it harder to discover his gear)
I thought things would have been much more interesting if Rita had shoved her tongue down the neighbor’s throat, and they went at it like bunnies.
Then we could see how Dex the good guy murderer could deal with jealousy.
Ah! I missed the part about Arthur masturbating. Odd. Usually I zone right in on stuff like that.
kingpengvin, I like that – Dex killing Arthur in front of Rita. Not the kids though – I don’t want the kids to see that.
ETA: simster, I like that too.
