As mentioned in this thread, Runadoc is coming to visit us… OK, she’s coming to visit JimB and we get to razz him about it. We want to have a dopefest for her, and I volunteered to have a cookout and pool party at my place on July 4th.
However, several people have said that they can’t make July 4th. I would rather have the party on Saturday if that means that more people would show up. Also, I’m a little worried that we may not be able to see the fireworks well from my house, and I found out they are at 10:00 PM, probably one of the latest displays around.
In addition, if you didn’t catch my thread, I was laid off this week. The good news is that I have plenty of time to get the house ready. The bad news is that I am trying to conserve resources. This doesn’t mean I am so poor I can’t spend any money, but I want to make sure my money is well spent, so I want to make sure that people really want a cookout, and I also want some help if we do that.
So, I would like some feedback from y’all - which day is better, and do you like the idea of a cookout, or shall we meet at a restaurant. Also, if we have the cookout, are you willing to bring something.
I vote for the cookout and I’ll be happy to bring foods and/or help pay for expenses. Restaurants are fun, but mingling is easier when we have the parties at someone’s house.
I talked with Runadoc and we’d both prefer either Saturday June 30th or Wednesday July 4th (for Adam, that’s our independance day, you’ll hear about it a lot.)
July 7th is kinda OK, but it does mess up our vision of our last night together for a couple of weeks.
That being romantic candlelit dinner, a few glasses of wine, dancing in the moomlight till midnight, a nice relaxing night’s sleep and off to the airport in the morning.
(YEAH RIGHT!!)
Think 6 hours of wild monkey sex, fall asleep exhausted and hopefully make the plane.
Anyway, Saturday, July 7th is on the table if that is the best day and y’all can put up with us.
Well, if we have Chef Troy, Grace, JimB and Runadoc, and Aglarond we definitely have a party. Any more input on the date? I think I prefer June 30th, if that’s works for other people (especially if we can get beatle to come).
I thought I’d push this back to let everyone know that after wining and dining Purplebear on Saturday night, that there is a good chance she is going to come up too. Along with hopefully, maidenunicorn and Mr. bear.
There is another reason for a party on the 30th of June, but I promised her not to tell.
Of course, I will if she decides to try to get out of coming.
Anyway, come one, come all. Let’s start planning this thing.

Grace, it was a spur of the moment thing as far as I knew. When she said that you knew she was here, I said I wish I’d known and I’d have grabbed you and brought you along. (Everyone knows how much I like to grab you)

Anyway, Grace, I did a good job of standing in for you. (I expect something in return, of course)
I’ll mention this to my wife, don’t know if we have plans yet for the 4th or not. Sounds fun, though. I regretted not being able to stick around when things moved from BoBo’s to Troy’s last time we got together, my wife didn’t know that the gathering was continuing after dinner and promised the kid that we would go see Shrek.
Let’s get to planning this gathering. I want this to be special so we can show this innocent Canadian that the Addams Family can put on a good dopefest for our guests.
Ok, so, I’m a little biased. But we do need to figure out who’s bringing what and who’s coming and such.
