DFW Dopers: Hawkwood?

If we do it on Saturday, I won’t be able to make it. All my Saturdays in October are booked for the planning and preparation of my co-worker’s wedding. Since I’m on of the wedding coordinators, we’ll be very busy making sure we have all the preparations for the big day.

Ok, it will remain Sunday, October 7th. Unless the 14th works for everyone?

I think we should put this to the vote. Ladies?

Kilt.

Dear gods in heaven, kilt.

And someone get me pictures.

I fully expect, Zyada, for there to be a Dopefest next time I’m in Dallas. (When? Who knows. Kinda depends on how bills go this semester. Christmas break at the very earliest.]

(So, ExTank, is tha’ a ferret in your sporran, laddie, or are ye jest happy t’see me?)

So then, ExTank, check this thread out.
If I am unable to make it I want pics, too.

See? I told you that Saturdays are a bad day! Yep, I’m confirmed for the 7th, God willin’ and the creek don’t rise.

Damn, now I wish that I had my kilt! Didn’t know that they were so popular with the ladies! I know you only like 'em because you want to know what we Scottish wear under them

Mmmmm… Kilts…

Okay, October the 7th for Hawkwood, right?
I am going to behave myself this year.

Also, we have to celebrate my new position which will be taking me to the beautiful plains of Texas as DIRECTOR of Business Development for a Home Health Care Agency! Is there a Lubbock Group? Shhhhh…I haven’t given my letter of resignation, so mum is the word for now.

Do we actually intend to eat at Bennigans, or are we just meeting there because it’s easily recognizeable?

If we meet at 2:00 to eat, I wouldn’t expect to be at Hawkwood until after 4:00, which gives us about two hours to enjoy the fair as it’s winding down at sunset when people go home and get back into their “real lives.”

That sounds pretty lame to me.

We should be at Hawkwood around lunchtime (c. noon) to enjoy the full show for the day.

Pete, the idea was just meet there and carpool out to Hawkwood. Then, come back afterwards to eat.

Moving it up to noon is fine with me. It’s only 5 minutes from my house so it really doesn’t matter to me at all.

Jim

The itinerary is:

Meet at Bennigan’s
Caravan to Hawkwood
Stay at Hawkwood until we’re tired
Go Back to Bennigan’s
Eat and re-experience the pleasures of the day.
I picked Bennigan’s because I was fairly sure Hootie was going to come, and she has an employee discount to Bennigan’s.

If we want to start earlier and eat lunch there, that’s ok with me. I just don’t remember the food there as being particularly wonderful. We did about this schedule last year and it worked out well.

You gotta problem with Bennigan’s?
I do not care when we leave or when we come back. It will be good to see all of you again.

Mr. Grace and I have brunch every Sunday. Two o’clock isn’t a problem. Noon will be impossible. I can meet you there as long as someone has a cell phone and I can call you once I get there.

Hootee is an employee of the parent company and gets a discount. [sub]We may as well take advantage of her discount as long as we can.[/sub] Congratulations on the new job Hootee!

Anyone else?

Sounds lovely.

Did we decide on a time? Are we still shooting for 2 o’clock?

2 is cool with me, though earlier means that I’m not throwing as much money out the door.

Speaking of money, how much does this thing cost are where do I get a ticket? Gate? Kroger?

–==the sax man==–

We bought our tickets at the gate last year. I don’t remember how much it was but I’m going to guess somewhere around $15 for admission.

Go visit www.hawkwood.org. The price is $13 at the gate.

Jim

Grace - yep, meet at two! Oh wait, I mean we’ll meet at 1:30

Sax - I’m paying at the gate, but if you want to see if Kroger’s has a discount ticket, go for it.

Two is fine for me. I didn’t realize that we were going to meet at Bennigan’s, but not eat there. That makes a whole lot more sense.
