Diablo II players -- How do I get to the cow level?

I play a heck of a lot on and off. Sometimes I stop for a couple of months to play other things, but D2 always draws me back.

Currently, I’m alternating between playing a meteor/chain lightning/hydra sorc and a trapassin, with the occasionally foray into zookeeper necros.

I hope the 1.10 patch (when and if it ever comes out) fixes the elemental druid. The elemental tree has some of the coolest looking graphics out there, but it’s rather…limp…at the moment.

munch, that’s great for 1.07 craftings if I could go back in time, but what about now? I mean, it wouldn’t really be worth it to get lots of IAS gear (bloodfist, highlords, etc) on a zon only to have her using a CB-class weapon…

CB?

Do you play Single Player or on the realms, iampunha? If SP, then I’d recommend starting up a second directory of DII, and play 1.07, if only to mule damage charms (I have a +20 max large charm, if that gives you any indication of how powerful they are) and crafted items (did I mention my 24% life leech ring?) over.

I realize I’m replying to a month old thread with an Off-Topic reply but I figure what the heck, it’s the most recent Diablo thread, a few people have already said what their accounts are, and this thread is already way OT anyway…

I think we should all try and get together on the realms once in a while. We all know its hard to find cool people to play with. We could add everybody to our friends list (/friends add xxx) and it would be easy to see who’s online.

My account name is 954voltaire and the main character I play with is a Paladin named Quickpower on USEast. I just started playing recently after not having played for a couple years. I finally got a good enough computer and a DSL connection that enable me to play lag-free even when surrounded by Baal’s minions while using my zeal & fanaticism.

If there’s responses to this thread I guess we should probably open another thread for people who want to be on the Diablo Dopers friends list.

Well, I have Madawc on my friends list already.

I’ll add the other accounts listed to my list and at least say “Hi!” if I see you. I think I have a USwest char that I started, but he’s probably been deleted by now…

B.net accounts,…

numbnut, numbnut1, numbnut2, and just started numbnut3

Ok, I gotta ask a couple questions of the people with multiple accounts.

  1. What’s the advantage? You can only play one at a time right? I suppose if you play two characters on two computers simultaneously, you could gain experience on the idle character for just standing in the same area that your active character is in. Is this the only advantage?

  2. Do you guys go and buy three or four copies of Diablo or what?

I don’t get it. Is there a limit to the amount of characters you can have on one account?

Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me.

Coupl’a things:

  1. every time I’m in bnet, I start or look for a game named “SDMB” w/ pswd “Cecil” and usually find Dopers or am found by them.

  2. multiple accounts or multiple players on bnet? Multiple player profiles is handy because you can start a game, play for a few minutes, drop gear, quit the game, them return with another player, load them up and essentially store stuff (mule) with their character for later use. This is good for gems, set gear and the like that you want to hang on to but don’t need right away or don’t have room for.

Hope that made sense and or helped.

Oh, and when I’m there, I’m usually a lvl 40-ish barb named Tufelhunden.

Nine. However, the latest news is that 1.10 has been completed and is now in final bug testing, and that one or two more run-throughs should finish it. Expected date: May.

IIRC, there’s a limit of ten. People start new accounts so they don’t have to delete their favourite characters and also so they can use more mules.

That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it…

After spending a good amount of time getting a character to level 50 or higher, I just don’t want to delete the character. I have a necro and an assasin that I plain got bored with, but I may want to start them up again. I have some friends who play occasionally so I let them use some of my higher level characters when they want to play a hell level game.

And yes, I have multiple copies of the game and multiple computers. This make muling easier and it’s kind of nice to bring in a heavy hitter when a PK’er comes in to screw up your game.

I’m also keeping slots open on each account for characters to start in 1.10, if it ever arrives.

Stupid question I just thought of…

I don’t use any cheats at all, not even maphack. what are your opinions on the ITH weapons, white rings, occy rings, and whatnot? I can’t guarantee that none of my stuff is duped because of trading, but I avoid most of the most duped items.

By the way, if anyone needs an unID’d Valkrie Wing helm for a zon, I got one that I’ll give up for a bunch of chipped gems.

You know, that’s something: since I’ve mostly just played the game striaght out, I have no idea, recipe-wise, how to get/create weapons and/or armor, etc. I know there are site that have the recipes, but when I looked, months ago, they were outdated or pre-v1.09, so they didn’t work any more.

Obviously, I’d like as much horsepower as I can muster, but I haven’t really any idea how to go about getting it.

What year?

I feel the urge to point out that I have a Lvl70 Druid with that really nice + to skills unique scythe, and if you’re not careful I’ll send him round to your place…

Right. I’ve searched the web (Google), Blizzard, and various unofficial Diablo II web sites. Unsuccessfully. Someone here must know the answers!

In Nightmare and Hell levels, when you die you not only lose experience but also skills. I thought my Dad was kidding when he told me this, but no, it’s happened to me. My sorceress’s skills have all dropped by 1 when I died several times in a row. (Those bloody lightening-enchanted unique monsters. How I hate them.)
[ul]
[li]Is it possible to get them back without having to use skill points earned as you level up, since that only covers one skill not ALL the ones you’ve lost points in?[/li]
How?[/ul]

I don’t know, personally, but the last quote I remember from Blizzard was that they were going to time their release in order to “bring gamers back to Diablo when they’re done playing Duke Nukem Forever.”

: d&r :

I didn’t think this was possible. I know I’ve never noticed it before. What version are you playing? Could this be an old bug?
(I may have to go die a lot just to see if it happens to me too)

I’m pretty sure that this DOES NOT happen.

Maybe you think you lose skills because after you die, you are naked and the items that you have on have +skills on them.

therefore you think you lost some skills, but in fact the items aren’t equipped and you don’t get the bonuses from them.

I don’t know your full situation and can’t really comment.

Stuff you can’t explain, but can be fully explained if I saw it.

I’ve had some friends that were newbies ask how come they can’t wear items with 60str, when they have 60str…

The mix up was that 5’s look like 6’s in DiabloII font. He had 50 str and thought he had 60str. I got that solved by accessing his acct and seeing the mix up for myself. And boy did he feel retarded after I explained it. I hope you don’t feel stupid if what I explained as a possible occurance of item loss be the simple solution to your ever elusive “bug”.

If you want to make some screenshots to prove the loss of skills, if my theory is contradicted, I will be glad to see them and try to offer another possible explanation. If it is a true “bug”, you might also want to contact Blizzard about it. But only if we can deem its “legitness” as a bug.

I don’t want to bug Blizzard with this if it is a bug, I want 1.10 NOW! sending a new bug to them will delay further and further…maybe in ten years i suppose, hehe.

Dangerosa and I have both played (lots); she’s still playing occasionally. I’m kinda-sorta waiting for the 1.10 patch, and then will no doubt be sucked in again.

We play on USEast – she’s cmastro and I’m kmatheny and kmatheny2.

I bet she’d be surprised if a Doper messaged her.

Y’know, I should know better than to post at almost 2 in the morning. I left out all sorts of important information.

My OS: Windows 98SE (lots of patches)
Dad’s OS: Windows XP Home (lots of patches)

LOD patch set: 109d (which is the latest, as far as I know)

Nope. I noticed this AFTER I had reequipped everything. My Warmth had been 10 (with equipment plusses), it’s now 9 (with equipment plusses). My Masteries went down, too.

<snip>

I can take screenshots. I backup on a regular basis so I still have a version of her from right before the multiple dyihngs. I suppose I COULD just restore the older version, but I got curious, you see. I had told my Dad that it wasn’t possible to lose skills, and he kept insisting it was. And now I have.

I’ll double-check that I reequipped the same stuff, too. Mawdawc, I’ll have to get back to you.
