Everytime I submit a question to post, a pop-up comes up first despite my active pop-up blocker (which has been very, very good to me). What’s the deal? Is this like what Monster.com and the like have gone to doing?

You almost certainly have spyware or Adware on your system. The SDMB has no popups that I’m aware of.
Check the “Computer problems” sticky in GQ.
The SDMB doesn’t have any pop ups.
We do not have any popups on our system.
We DO have Double-Click; it runs our ad system. It is quite possible that your system is being triggered by Double Click to get popups (though not generated by our site.
Please look at one of the programs such as Ad-Aware to rid yourself of this problem.
