Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

Have you got a slow-cooker or a crock pot? There are all kinds of things you can cook up just by throwing everything into the pot and turning it on. Certainly more satisfying than grilled cheese, IMHO.

Now why would I have read this as gay drinkin’??? Guess it’s time for new glasses.

That’s what I’ve always done. It’s got to be pretty cold for me to want the blanket on all night.

Same here. Oh well - I’ve seen them before, I’ll likely see one again some day.

We forgot to get our $1.9 Billion ticket and it appears that may have thrown a monkey wrench in the whole system! :open_mouth: OK, maybe not, but one of the participating states had some sort of security issue and the winning numbers haven’t been drawn yet. I expect there’s a lot of tension around the country…

Happy Election Day! It’s happy because they’ll finally stop running those gawd-awful attack ads over and over and over and over… there are a couple of really contentious races in VA, which makes it even more annoying since we’re in MD but we’re subjected to their ads since we watch the DC local stations. I envy the countries that have only a few months of campaigning. Because you know that tomorrow, the 2024 campaigning will start.

It also boggles my mind that people spend millions to be elected to a position that pays less than $200K a year. Yeah, I know it’s about more than the paycheck, but still. OK, no more.

It’s a Tobias day, and after I fetch Roxy, I take them to their house and wait for my daughter to get off work and cast her votes. Then I’ll run to Aldi because we’re almost out of my 12 grain bread.

Higgs goes to the groomer today and afterwards, FCD will take the trash that he couldn’t get rid of yesterday. He’s got to get blood drawn, then go to the apartment this morning, so he’s taking the leftover potato soup to his folks. And I’m pretty sure that’s all of today’s excitement. He took his mom to the senior center yesterday and she made a friend already. We’re going to try to work out a schedule so she can go regularly.

And so it begins. Happy Tuesday!!

Wait… hasn’t this happened before? Didn’t someone follow you a few weeks ago? Egads. I hope this stops.

Actually, I was close to the truck and jumped inside. Then started laughing when I realized I had locked the door too. Never know if it’s one of those cats that opens car doors.

Thanks for the Gong Show story. I’d forgotten about that show.

It’s 71 here, which is weird for November. Today has lots of minor chores, and a sad one. My close friend from high school just lost his dad. I’ve got to find the details from the local funeral home and decide what to do. I’ve known the guy since kindergarten, and went through all of school and part of college with him. He’s my oldest friend and I need to do something. I just don’t know what. It’s a really long trip to their town and I’m on the fence about it. On the fun side, my kiddo (the pilot) has a layover in DFW today, so we’re going into town to have dinner with him. Looking forward to that.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I told Buddy he didn’t want to go outside last night right before I went to bed. DH reports that when he got up, a certain orange cat was VERY anxious to get inside. Considering it’s raining here, I’m not surprised.

Gotta drop ballots sometime today. DH elected to call out, between weather and apparently having my crud.

Good morning everyone.

It’s 35 degrees and temps are expected to reach around 44 degrees before plummeting back down to the 30s overnight. It’ll be cloudy in the morning and then the sun is supposed to bust out in the afternoon.

I also need to drop my ballot today. I guess I’ll do that when I pick up Polar’s prescription.

I think I’m going to make some split pea soup in the slow cooker today. I have all the ingredients on hand and it’ll take me all of 15 minutes to put together.

nellie, I think you need some mace and a whistle when you go walking. There are lots of unsavory characters about down there. Nothing like seeing a person tweaking out at the park while watching another person taking a dump right next to him…in broad daylight. My son lives across the freeway from the old O brewery and has to call the cops often because of the unsavory people who boil out of there at night and look for criminal opportunities. Please take care of yourself.

I have a lot of work to get done today, but that’s nothing new. Tomorrow I’ll be commuting down south to spend 6 hours in a meeting. I’ll get down there at my usual time, so I’ll get 3.5 hours of work before the meeting and then spend another hour getting some other stuff after the meeting. I plan to hit the road at 3:00 and I hope nothing derails those plans.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all. Weather reports say it could reach 80F today, which even for N. Ali-bama is a bit extreme for November (my electric/gas bills ain’t complaining). First of many loads of laundry are in the washing machine, also need to get over and vote sometime today and make it to the gym. Dishwasher is 95% filled so I guess I can let it run too. For me that accounts for a busy day.

Looked up and I see my great room/living room clock hadn’t changed, then remembered it doesn’t do so automatically, so I need to get the ladder out and make the changing of the time 100% for the house.

Yankers, hope you can go and see your friend and at the minimum send flowers.

FCM, one nice thing about Ali-bama is that it is such a 1-party state that not many adds get run here, compared to more competitive races elsewhere.

Ok, need to break fast and check if we’re ready for washer load #2 yet. All y’all have a good day.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 11c/51f with a predicted high of 12c/54f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Mammatus clouds get their name from the Latin term for fucking ‘man tits’.” So there, now you know. It is cloudy when it’s not sunny and windy, proper autumnal conditions out there.

I hope you’ve all been out to do your civic duty over there  I imagine you get a huge amount of paid political tv advertising etc, must be really annoying trying to skip it all!

nellie I’m glad you got home safely, perhaps it is time to consider investing in something like mace or a taser just so that you feel more comfortable being outside.

BBBoo when mum had a portable oxygen supply, she used to laugh about having to ask our favourite pub to reserve a table well away from their open fires, just in case she went boom!

Taters I hope you and Polar are both feeling better today.

I have had a boring morning of meetings, brightened up by lunch with a colleague. This afternoon I have spreadsheet hell to deal with, and then grocery shopping tonight. Fortunately it’s not my turn to make dinner so 'im indoors can do that. I will instead get half an hour of sofa time with a snuggly cat. Off to do battle with spreadsheets and exam dates!

Regardless of how you feel about their chicken, Chick-Fil-A has a righteous seasonal peppermint milk shake with bits of chocolate in it. You will thank me later.

Happy Snoutcounting Day!

Just got up – going to visit the rain locker, get dressed, and go get my snout counted. Quite convenient, actually, because the snouts in my district are counted at the library, and I need to go there anyway.

It’s a deal!

My crockpot is so old (like a wedding present a gazillion years ago) that it doesn’t come out and too much of a hassle to clean so I’ve given up on it. I should drag it out for chili or potato soup~FCM’s sounded so good!

So glad to hear this~a friend will make it more bearable for her I’m hoping. Plus a side benefit with the Senior Center: it can be a conduit to further services when she gets to know them and them her. That first step the hardest and now she’s done it.

10, 33, 41, 47, 56. Powerball 10.

Who won?

Had breakfast, then went and voted. Please do the same, even if it’s not convenient; the voting, not breakfast.

I have about 2 minutes because I have a long To Do list today (and voting is on there), but I wanted to thank all of you for your concern about my safety. Yes, I did have an incident recently where someone followed me. This time the person was obviously just someone who lived in the complex I was cutting through. I got nervous because of the recent incident, but truth be told, getting stalked and then chased and assaulted when I was a teen put me on permanent Yikes mode when someone is behind me. I want to run, even though running didn’t work when I was a kid.

I do have mace, but I can’t remember where I put it. If I don’t find it soon, I’ll get some more. And the whistle is a great idea, Taters. I live in the safer part of town, but you’re right: there are plenty of dangerous people out there.

Hugs to all! I so appreciate each and all of you!

I took a Web design course many years ago (as in Adobe CS4 years ago). I was cleaning/rearranging my closet, and found the textbooks from that course. I had books on software (like the aforementioned Adobe suite, including Photoshop and Dreamweaver) and on stuff like JS, CSS, and SEO.

Are these books good to anyone these days besides as doorstops or recycling material? JavaScript and CSS are the same these days at least, right…? Or have they too changed?

There was a crash on the 5, so Waze told me to take the 405. The 405 was barely moving. I heard on the radio that the problem on the 5 was a missing manhole cover. I’m wondering if someone nicked it, and a car hit the hole. Anyway, I didn’t get into the Burien office until 08:39. I think I left the house around a quarter past 5.

I reset the clock in the Prius whilst I was stuck in traff-ICK. Just need to reset the clock in the Jeep. Or not. It burns enough fuel that I don’t use it on trips long enough to worry about the clock. I have two watches to set, though. (I set the one I’m wearing when I put it on.)

I voted. Now I can nap, then get up and doomscroll social media for the rest of the night. Gordie wanted to go out again, right in the middle of breakfast. I made him wait 10 minutes, so he stuck his head between the cat tree and the wall and started wailing. If the boy is gonna go emo on me, I’m dying him black, and buying him some Cure albums.

I prefer Bojangles.

I used to watch that!

Glad for the boring visit,susan

Afternoon all. Load 4 of the laundry is underway and load three is in the dryer, so once those are completed about 85% of what needs to be done will be done, and the dishwasher will have finished its cycle, so gym may be in the mid-afternoon. It’s 78F outside now, my jackets are sitting all forlorn, usually I am employing them by now.

Have changed the living room clock, voted, shopped, mailed and snacked, so a fairly productive day for me so far.

quietly, not me. I think I had a couple of 41’s and a 47, but not on the same line, so no party at my place. (Looks like someone in California won it).

FCM, glad MIL could get to the senior center; hope it helps and BBBoo’s point about other available services is well-taken.

Good afternoon to all!

My snout has been counted. Waste of time, really – this is such a solidly blue state that my vote didn’t have a chance of affecting the results, but oh well…

I finally reset my wristwatch today. It is an old fashioned analog face one, which my almost-as-cute-as-Roxy & Toby granddaughter calls my hickory-dickory-dock watch. After 41+ years of taking pulses I feel naked without a second hand and these inexpensive Casio watches suit me.

Working as an election official today, 7am-8:30pm. I enjoy it a lot. We’ve done a brisk business, even had people lined up before we opened. Democracy in action, even if it does seem to be limping a little lately.

There was a commercial or a movie or something where a young 20-something called a guy’s wristwatch a ‘clock bracelet’.
