Did you guys know that Evil Captor likes bondage? With bonus fuck-off for Miller!

I don’t remember YB being exclusivily a peidofile. Didn’t he have the heads on the walls? Or was that Frodo. (I don’t remember teh movie that well)

IMO All our interpretations on whether she should have been naked during the whipping scene are irrelevant. In the original comic drawn by Frank Miller, was the character naked during the scene? If so, then considering the faithfulness to the original material in the rest of the film (Miller even got a credit as co-director just because so many of the shots were perfect reproductions of his panels), Alba should have been naked during the scene. She also should have stripped during the stripping scene.

It was Frodo.

Yeah, I had to think for a sec too but it was Frodo that was the head-keeper.

Beats me on the comic as I can’t find it but I will agree that if she was naked in the comic then she should also have been naked in the film. I would have liked to see her strip during the stripper scene but then again, I’m a guy so that’s kind of self-evident.

As for Evil Captor, I could give a shit less what or where he posts if it wasn’t for the comments regarding rape and whatnot. Being that the wife and I enjoy bondage to some extent, I have no problem per se with it but wanting to see someone get raped is extremely creepy.

This is not about liking or not liking EC nor is it about getting “squicked” out nor is it about lifestyle choices. For me the issue is it gets tiresome seeing threads in CS about cute fluffy bunnies getting constant bondage references.

I think EC should do what he wants on the board and off as long as he stays within the rules. I am not suggesting that he has broken any rules nor that there is anything wrong with BDSM. All I am saying is time and place brother.

What’s with all these posts claiming that Evil Captor gets off on rape scenes. For some reason Excalibre went to a lot of trouble to exhaustively detail Evil Captor’s posting habits. In all the posts he references, EC mentions rape once, in passing.

Evil Captor is into bondage with some domination/slavegirl type fantasies. He is not into rape. Bondage ≠rape, even if it includes sub-dom imagery.

I think people may be confused because EC talks a lot about bondage imagery in mainstream movies and TV. Bondage in movies and TV is going to be part of a storyline, and that storyline is generally going to involve things like kidnapping and such. Consensual bondage hardly exists in the mainstream media, although it’s less taboo than it used to be.

Again, with some reluctance I have to write that I can relate. Bondage is a bit of a paraphilia for me (If I may use the charming parlance of the DSM-IV), and I grew up the pre-internet days. When I was a teen I used to watch a lot of crappy TV waiting for bondage scenes. When they came on I couldn’t give two farts for the story. Even when I was over eighteen, I used to have to walk eight miles, both ways, through the drifting snow just to buy my pronography. Not like you whippersnappers who just have to click on your mice and yet you constantly complain about how tough you have it but if you been around in my day you wouldn’t have lasted…what’s that? Oh right, the point. Anyway, all I’m saying is despite what you may think EC isn’t about rape.

Actually, that’s a reasonable reply. You can date my sister - but stay the hell away from my wife!

This is bullshit. No one is advocating restricting your posting. If you have the freedom to post something, others have a right to respond to it. Period.

I didn’t think to search for references to rape. He may well have mentioned it far more than that. I simply did a search on some items - that hardly constitutes “exhaustively detailing” it.

It might be worth noting that Evil Captor’s references to bondage mostly occur in Cafe Society. I’m not sure how often everyone posts there - if you’re mostly reading GD, then obviously you’re not going to run into many of his references. So those who were completely unaware probably simply haven’t seen his Cafe Society posts.

I disagree. I feel it can be relevant and can add to the discussion. I’m of the set that finds Evil Captor’s posts always interesting - because he is different from me. He looks at things differently and I enjoy getting that other view.

A transvestite could also have a very unique view to contribute - though I don’t remember Johanna specifically.

One of the things I like about this board is that there are so many people here so different from myself, with so many experiences - it’s really broadened my horizons.

When I first came here I was more of a knee jerk reactor, now I tend to think about topics more - knowing that I’m going to get new and different opinions - points of view that I never would considered. I know people can get offended by posts that are sexual in a thread they feel shouldn’t be sexual, but I like to learn and think about things in new ways - therefore I’d prefer to keep this kind of information coming!

This is worth pointing out again. I’m in no way advocating restrictions of his (or anyone else’s) posting privileges. That’s why I haven’t been reporting his posts. I’m simply responding to how he posts. You could view that as a request that he monitor his own posting habits, but that’s not a restriction, as we all make judgments as to whether we’re posting something germane, interesting, etc.

This is disgusting to me.

If the image on the screen is presented as being about BDSM sex, like Secretary, then it doesn’t bother me at all that some people find it erotic. But if it’s about rape or physical abuse–not presented as erotic–then I think that it’s disgusting that you would use it for wank fodder.

I acknowledge your right to do so, and to say so, but I claim my right to express my disgust. And I could wish that you would be more respectful of your fellow Dopers and choose not to drag your bloody knuckles into non-relevant threads, but I wouldn’t advocate for a change of rules to forbid it.

Yeah! You should be watching wholesome morally-affirming films, like Starship Troopers. When we see a man torn in half it’s for a uplifting reason!

Eh, I’m just bustin’ yer chops, lissener.

I think you need to be less easily disgusted.

Goddamn people. Learn to live and let live. I don’t like the fact that I have to share space with people so malicious and intolerant towards human diversity and/or failure to live up to transient social standards like the ones that make up a huge segment of straight dope but I just try to avoid them. In fact I have put several dopers on my ignore list just because I didn’t like what I was becoming by acknowledging them.

Just do the same. Ignore those you don’t like.

I think you are thinking of the troll Kate6 and her obsession with transsexuality. Johanna goes a little overboard with her lesbian talk (IMO anyway), but she at least makes new threads about it instead of hijacking others.

His obsession. He was not transsexual.

lissener, I think you’re not getting it. Just because someone gets off on watching a rape scene in a movie does not make them a rapist or a fan of rape itself. They know it is just a movie, and that the people involved are actors, and what they are doing turns them on. I’m pretty sure that if EC was walking through a dark alley and came upon a man attempting to rape a girl, he would try to help, not stop to jerk off. Do you see the distinction between fantasy and reality?
And BTW, rape scenes or scene where it’s unclear whether sex is consensual were (I don’t know if they still are) very popular in Bollywood films. Does that make all Bollywood fans twisted perverts?
Is it also your opinion that if you like to watch horror movies that makes you a sick disgusting wanna-be murderer?

I’m way too lazy to count beans and give accurate percentages, but when you see a fairly high level of support for a member who occasionally posts references to his BDSM fantasies

and

Compare it to last year’s pitting of MSmith537: Who was almost unanimously castrated and branded a misogynist.

It does lead one to the conclusion that pre-feminist era humor is far less tolerable than ball and gag hijacks. Even though MSmith took his pitting in good stride, I suspect he would have gotten a better reception in that thread had be been pre-emptively attacked by the LJ Bitch Brigade.
