The biggest protests I’ve see over 50 Shades is by people in the BDSM community. They say it promotes a false idea of what their fetish is about, saying that the main guy is actually being abusive and possibly committing rape. (At least, that’s what they said about the book. The movie may try to fix those things.) It seems Mr. Grey is a bigger creep than Edward ever was.
Well, for one thing, he calls someone with different sexual preferences than his own “creepy.” I’m also guessing that EvilCaptor hasn’t really made all that big a deal about this. I know I haven’t noticed it. So the OP must be frequenting the threads where EC talks about this stuff.
First I heard of it. If it’s true that Evil Captor likes the whips and the chains, he only rises in my esteem. 
He’s dialed it back recently, but there was a time it was all he would talk about. That’s what was creepy. I don’t want him backsliding.

Yeah, there was definitely a time when he was a little overenthusiastic about trying to pull his pet interests into pretty tangential conversations and he got modded on it. But if I recall correctly the mandate was only to keep his particular fetish out of more or less unrelated threads. I haven’t read this current thread ( since I’m fairly uninterested in the film ), but I gotta think that if anything falls into the “related” category it has to be 50 Shades of Grey.

I saw a survey the other day that listed BDSM as one of the most popular female fantasies out there. “50 Shades” is the highest selling book of all time despite being as I understand it complete and utter dreck.
Against that background, what is more interesting here: there’s a guy on these boards who is into or into fantasising about BDSM, or a second guy who is so squicked out by the subject he feels a need to call the first guy names?
