I have read the thread and that’s not what happened.
Dio commented. The next three comments were astro basically saying that someone who thinks spanking is equivalent to “assault and battery” (not a totally unheard of opinion) is “crazy”, Guin telling Dio he’d “jumped the shark”, then **Wile E **with a post that reads, in total, “Well, Dio has spoken. Thread over.” Dio responded (fairly calmly) to them, then gets a spate of people jumping on him, culminating with kambuckta telling him to “Fuck off Doggy, you’re being a righteous tool.” That’s what finally drew the mod attention and Dio was also warned at that point to not be inflammatory.
I only read the entire topic because of this thread. Originally, I only made it to the first “you’re blowing this out of proportion” before I rolled my eyes and moved on. It looked to me like it was shaping up to be a bunch of people spouting off a lot of crap about a situation they know almost nothing about, just like almost every single “advice” thread on this board. And look! I was right!
Gosh, what’s the going rate? I should at least get a tax break since all my lurking has been strictly pro bono…
I don’t recall the details but as I recall one poster offered to pay another poster $100 if they would stop posting for six months.
Are you saying that the fact that he was warned by the moderator is evidence that his behavior was out of line?
I think your example of your two children arguing pointlessly back and forth is a perfect model for this situation. Just imagine instead that there were a dozen children on the “ya huh” side of the equation, and add in “you’re mean” and “that’s not fair.”
A nitpick; they’re certainly advice threads; I’d put the quotes around anything suggesting they were “good” advice threads. 
I thought it involved Liberal and pseudotriton ruber ruber; the former paid the latter $500 to stop posting for a year. I believe prr later returned the money and began posting sooner.
Or was it a one trillion dollar bet between two posters to see who could go without invoking Hitler the longest?

Actually, I think the terms of the agreement were filled. Although IIRC, Liberal almost earned a suspension over that.
And I believe someone held the money in trust, so until if prr posted before the deadline, he wouldn’t get the money.

Are you aware when you’re doing it? I considered PMing you when that thread started to go south, thinking, hey, maybe he doesn’t realize that he needs to chill the hell out. But then I figured, how could he not?
