Yes, why not have your potential thread readers shoulder the burden of sussing out the point you were attempting to make in your OP instead of you actually being clear about it? I know I love parsing through page after page of unrelated musings, just so I can find that one (maybe two) posts that you were inscrutably referring to in your OP!
I apologize for expressing a poor opinion of your OP. Next time I’ll be sure to wait another page or two to be certain the majority of the replies agree with my position before I post it.
Same here. One is an intelligent, well informed and persuasive poster whose depth and breath of detailed knowledge on a wide range of subjects is really quite impressive; the other is a three-year-old making some nonsensical claim and then stamping his foot and yelling “Yes it is!” or “No it’s not!” over and over and over again in the face of disagreement, apparently under the impression that if he insists loud enough or long enough he is sure to get his way.
But… that’s not what this thread is about, is it? It wasn’t “I pit Dio for not being able to rhyme cocky words!” It was for your total lack of humility and basic communication skills.
You could’ve spent the time (and the creative juices that you were brilliantly channeling the Beastie Boys with) in self-examination and repentance. And learning, if no one buys your argument, to just let it go…
Hmm… maybe there’s something to these “Two Dio’s” theories… on and off meds? We’ll all pitch in on your co-pay, man.
Until then, I’m grateful I discovered the “ignore” feature. It’s easy, and keeps my blood pressure down. F’rinstance, I can tell Randy teh Rover’s posting in here (probably spewing bile, and trying to make this political, and/or about him), but I can’t see the ignorance, so I’m more relaxed.
The Internet would be a better place if folks reflected upon past interactions with a poster before embarking on yet another one. . . and perhaps consider the popular definition of insanityat the same time.
Diogenes is very smart. Any time I’m tempted to make him the second person ever on my ignore list, he does something that reminds me that I’d be missing good stuff.
And he can communicate well.
His biggest fault, and it’s a very irritating one, is his resistance to admission of error. Long after anyone else would have said, “Yeah, OK, I was wrong,” Diogenes will be shifting goalposts, redefining words, and backpedalling like crazy to avoid an explicit admission of error. Compounding this is his other fault: a strong tendency to make definitive, absolutist statements for (presumably) rhetorical effect.
He irritates the shit out of me quite often, but he definitely adds value to the boards.
