I was one of the people arguing against Dio in the rap thread, that was my attempt at “hilarious” sarcasm.

Miller:
Please don’t wish death on other posters.
[/Moderating]
Can we wish it and just keep it to ourselves (e.g., not post about it), or are you finally doing away with all pretense, and attempting to moderate our actual thoughts?
His “wish” was my command.

Munch:
For myself, Dio is two different posters…
Same here. One is an intelligent, well informed and persuasive poster whose depth and breath of detailed knowledge on a wide range of subjects is really quite impressive; the other is a three-year-old making some nonsensical claim and then stamping his foot and yelling “Yes it is!” or “No it’s not!” over and over and over again in the face of disagreement, apparently under the impression that if he insists loud enough or long enough he is sure to get his way.
C’mon, man, at least TRY to phrase it as a battle rap. Haven’t you been reading the thread?
…I would pay relatively significant amounts of actual money to see a Starving Artist vs. Diogenes the Cynic rap battle.
I join with a lot of other people in saying that I think Dio’s one of our most valuable posters when he’s not digging in his heels on a topic he’s only got anecdotal evidence for. I’ve been more irritated with him than not in the last several months because in particular I notice he tends to do this on matters of sexuality and parenting, which seem to have been a focus of the board for a while there. On the other hand, anytime he’s not in The Dio Zone, he’s uniformly a worthy read.

His biggest fault, and it’s a very irritating one, is his resistance to admission of error. Long after anyone else would have said, “Yeah, OK, I was wrong,” Diogenes will be shifting goalposts, redefining words, and backpedalling like crazy to avoid an explicit admission of error. Compounding this is his other fault: a strong tendency to make definitive, absolutist statements for (presumably) rhetorical effect.
He irritates the shit out of me quite often, but he definitely adds value to the boards.
I was about to say I agree with this post, but then I saw who it was from and LOL’ed forever.

You weren’t the only one who had that reaction.

Really? I can find plenty of places where I’ve owned up to being wrong.

Excuse me for not wanting to post about 20 links, rather than 5.
For fuck’s sake. Just link to his first post in the thread. Linking to 12 page threads and citing them as evidence of anything is just lazy-ass shit.

But you have backpedaled, redefined words, and shifted goalposts. You also have made strong definitive statements without knowledge.
You are nowhere near as bad as Diogenes but you do share some of his traits.
I like his brother.

Basically this. No one is at Diogenes levels. I was going to say I can name a few times, but not plenty, but that would lead to a Brickeresque nitpicking hijack over the word “plenty” which completely misses the point.

Wow.
Well, I don’t think I have much in the way of backpedaling history, or shifting goalpost history. I recognize, of course, that even if I did, I’d be unlikely to THINK I did, and so it may well be that I’m deluding myself.
So perhaps you could point me to one or two examples, so I could learn what I’m doing that’s giving that impression? I can think of one major argument that revolved around word definitions – the same sex marriage one – but since that was one I ended conceding error on, and was several years ago, I’d be surprised if that was it.

Diogenes is very smart. Any time I’m tempted to make him the second person ever on my ignore list, he does something that reminds me that I’d be missing good stuff.
…
He irritates the shit out of me quite often, but he definitely adds value to the boards.
And you add value to the boards, too. :~}
OK, now I’m dying to know who’s The Only Poster On Bricker’s Ignore List.
I’d ask him, but if he didn’t reply, I’d be afraid he never saw my post…

CK Dexter Haven’s guidance:
Part of the reason we were hesitant is because we didn’t want to see flame wars caused by PosterX telling PosterY “you can say whatever you want to me, I don’t care because you’re on my ignore list.”
Hinting that any particular person or group of people is on your ignore list is very strictly frowned upon.
That post goes on to say it’s permitted in the Pit, where we are in fact right now, but if it’s frowned upon, that’s enough for me.

Yo my name is Ender and I’m here to say

I typed this whole rap up on my iPod touch.

fuckin Mike. Better know your place. Better know how to heal.
Oh don’t forget to tip your waitress and please try the veal.Good night 8 mile I love you!
Bolding mine.
Wow, I just found out I’m gay.

MTCicero:
I’ll hazard a guess: The preponderance of your posts?
The great ugly throbbing preponderance, yes.
Now that’s a little mean. Instead of “ugly” I would have said “homely”
On the Dio show I’ll second what Munch said in post 100.
Bolding mine.
Wow, I just found out I’m gay.
Glad I could be of service.

BrainGlutton:
Yes, well, Diogenes, whatever else one might say of him, and even if every criticism directed at him in this thread is true, is at any rate much smarter than you.
What’s your evidence for that proposition?
Correct answer: “Your posts are my cite.”
All other answers get only partial credit.
Sometimes I think Dio and RR are the same person. It’s like he got bored and realized his Dio persona was too limited. With RR he can now troll these boards from every direction possible and even argue with himself. Awesome!
I’d say ban them both but I foresee a reenactment of that episode of Married with Children when Al finally catches the serial killer.
(EVERYONE PICKS UP THE KILLER. THEY DUST HIM OFF)
AL What are you doing?
BEANY Making sure you didn’t hurt him.
(AL REACTS)
ROY See, Bundy, Dumpwater ain’t much of a town. We only got two things – a serial killer,
and the man who met Andy Griffith.DELBERT We could probably stand to lose one or the other, but we’ll be damned if we’re gonna
lose both.

Well at least it explains my love of rainbows.

Fuck off, Rand Rover.
This violates the language rules for the pit. Please refrain from sexual insults aimed at other posters. No warning issued.

DiosaBellissima:
But. . . I was trying to get him to enter an 8 Mile style rap battle with me in the CS thread I bickered with him in. You’ve got to admit, that would have at least been worth it.
I would totally pay $20 to see you both in a rap battle of the Dios.
Can they join in: Dio2113; Diobbyembeste; DiobdounD; Diogenes; Diogenes the Jackass; diogenes009; diogenes1; Diogenes33; diogenesbob; diokspapsep; dioncecht?
