Diplomacy Game One: The thread of doom!

I think there are more than a couple novices in game 2 (myself included) so it may just be that some people aren’t aware of the importance of diplomacy [small ‘d’]. The game cannot be won simply by outmaneuvering armies on the map. Fire up your email client, guys, and get negotiating.

Sez Mr. 3 Builds.

I know how you feel. It’s kinda strange having to wait it out like this.

God Save the Queen
Abe Babe

Hi Abe! It’s going to take me 1-2 more turns to be in as much trouble as you are in now. If you’re doing bets, put it on one turn

Hey, I only wanted 2! Who the heck starts filling a bucket that clearly has a gaping hole in the bottom? I was certain Germany would desist with the bid for Belgium and bounce me from Munich. The real magic trick is going to be sustaining 6 armies through 1902.

smilie removed at request of the voices in my head.

Trouble Nothin’. I got enemies all around me. I can shoot in any direction now.

If it’s any consolation, Clarissa_xx, Germany has ample reason to start listening to you now, doesn’t he? And so does France…he may want your help dealing with an angry Germany! (As he’s pointed out himself, France’s position isn’t quite as strong as it seems.) Sell your support to the highest bidder!

Abe, I have something very important to tell you.

:stuck_out_tongue:

There.

-Pucette, who loves smilies maybe not so much as the next person, but apparently more than Abe.

That’s Mr. Babe to you, toots.
[sub]and I wanted to see how the new sig looks.

The voices tell you that, too, Abe?

They also told me I was unique. That I was special. The bastards.

All of my teachers at school used to refer to me as “special” too.

Still waiting on a bunch of Winter 1901 builds for Dip Adams 936!

Don’t be late!

Yeah, Nate, start these games while I’m offline for an entire week and a half, for the first time in eons. You suck.

Game 1: there are two classes of countries in this game: {France, Russia}, and “sucks to be you.” Austria may think he’s doing well now, but it ain’t gonna last; Germany’s had a successful 1901, even if Maeglin got him to blink, but he’s got nowhere to expand; England’s got a surprisingly weak and noncommittal position heading into '02, and Italy’s and Turkey’s positions speak for themselves. Though if there’s gonna be a survivor in the Ita-Aus-Turk group, I’m betting on Turkey.

Game 2: much harder to call; too many of the outside powers getting along too well. Austria’s pretty much dead, and Germany’s got major problems even after he retakes Munich, but everyone else is in pretty good shape. Russia’s unthreatened enough that he may be able to get away with the two-front game (yes, it’s a bad gamble, but sometimes you get lucky).

If I were going to place a bet, it would be on Turkey; when Turkey gets his pieces out of the box without interference, he’s dangerous. Besides, everything goes better with gunfire!

There seems to be some miscommunication between us. Did you get my last few emails?

Uh oh. That sounds like trouble.

And…

Winter 1901 for Game Two is now adjudicated!

The builds are…interesting. I see some trust and lack thereof.

Comments?

RTFirefly? That’s what you get for being offline. Hell, it was Corrado complaining about another game he is in that led me to make the offer.

You can be in the next round when one of these expires. I’m betting that at least one of them goes quickly.

Interesting building in Game 2 (Adams 936)!!

Russia clearly trusts Turkey more than England (who wouldn’t, with those cheerful canary uniforms ;)).

Turkey, meanwhile is poised to move out into the Mediterranean - are Italy and Austria watching?

Italy’s land-grab in Africa (and the Baltics) has paid off - can she consolidate?

Austro-Hungary is in trouble - who will be her saviour? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

France may struggle to hold six SC’s through the year - prehaps the best option will be to re-furbish the Maginot Line and try a thrust in the Fall.

England chooses to build in an interesting centre - prehaps Russia’s mistrust is well founded after all.

Germany also faces a tough prospect - retake Munich and then where?
Fun Fun Fun!!

Gp

Noncommittal, yes. Weak, no. There are any number of directions I could go. 1902 may not see me make any huge gains, but it will set me up for some 1903 action.

If I can just hold out until AgentOOOrville and Agent OOWilbur can get that flying contraption working.

Eh em. Don’t I get a say in the ultimate fate of Belgium? Trying to reach an agreement with a third party over its disposition while offering me non-deals and empty assurances of peace? Tsk. Tsk.

Well, excuse me Mr. Waverly. Three centers first year isn’t good enough for you??? Since I’m most likely going down soon anyway, I think I can say that you are most definitely a big Pooh Head!!!
There!! Take that!

I believe Neville Chamberlain once called Hitler a Big Pooh Head…
