I think the Jedi cat should be called “Obi-Wan Kitteh-bi.”
On the shelf at room temp: ketchup, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, A-1 sauce (love it!), siracha. In the fridge after being opened: mustard (all kinds), cocktail sauce, mayo, Miracle Whip.
Today it was so mild when I went outside to get in the car that I just wore gloves. Songbirds seem to be of good voice around here.
I’ve been a Monty Python fan since a neighborhood kid introduced me to it on PBS in the mid-Seventies. One of my proudest moments as a father was when my boys started quoting MP on their own, without any prompting by me (my wife just rolled her eyes).
Have to admit, I’ve never heard clementines referred to as “cuties” before now.
I think the weather is mild and spring-like today. But there’s still a ton of snow on the ground. Ya ever heard of Minnesnowta? That’s us, spring is relative. March means lots of snow and rain and yep, that’s what we’ve been having this year.
Re: fruit and veg. I get at least two servings of veg every day, often more. Yay for broccoli and green salads.
@kenobi_65 Cuties brand drive me nuts. They aren’t nearly as good as the clementines we used to get from Portugal in the wooden boxes. But they are local and cheaper and have very little domestic competition.
I usually get tons of fruits and vegetables interspersed with regression periods of eating like hot garbage and I’m currently in one such regression period, so I didn’t know what to pick. I have food issues. And I have been so stressed. And processed food is my go-to when I’m tired and stressed.
I always keep a container of cole slaw (bought or home made) in the fridge for just such a circumstance. It goes with all sorts of foods and if you stay away from added sugar, it’s downright healthy for you. If nothing else I’ll grab a few forkfulls and call it dinner.
I was really, really doing well, losing weight, eating better, and exercising prior to COVID . . . and then came 1/6 . . . and then things kept being shitty despite brief moments of hope due to our political division and the world situation especially regarding Russia.
I knew I was stress eating, but it was that or stress drinking into oblivion, which would also be a source of major calories as well as the natural liver damage.
So I’d kindly like it if the world would please level it’s power dive into the dumpster, and then I’ll likely be able to get back to a less crappy food / exercise path.
Excuse me. That was ranty.
On a happier voting poll, married to a wonderful (better than I deserve certainly) woman for over two decades now, and we’ve been together since we started dating in college. First and only marriage for both of us.
Regarding the weather and/or bugs - it’s front range Colorado. We’ll be in the mid/high fifties in stupid units, one day, and the next it’ll snow. Repeat through April. So it’s a wee bit random, but not unusual for the area. I hate shoveling, but actually wish we’d had a bit more snow on the mountain, for the avoidance of the semi-annual burnination.
But living up where there’s no air means a LOT fewer bugs than most places, so I remain happy about that.
I voted ‘well intentioned, should be more skilled’ – but, while I may not bother retracting the vote, the actual answer would be ‘depends on which one you’re talking about.’
Today was the first really springlike day we have had. It hasn’t been bad but certainly not spring. Too early to tell what’s up with birds or insects. I’m sure we will have plenty of lantern flys.
It’s my first Spring as a southern Nevada resident, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. However, we are apparently running about 20 degrees below normal, and last night the TV weather guy said this weekend’s temperatures will be the lowest we’ve seen in “decades.” (How many decades, he didn’t say.) But highs will still be in the upper 50s, so it’s not like we’re freezing to death. Haven’t noticed any birds or flying bugs around our house yet.
As for local politicians, I haven’t been here long enough to notice yet, so I have to be a Bacon Hindu Atheist for now.
My brother is a carpenter. He’s told me the best way to get into a workman’s good graces is to say two things to them:
1 - Of course you may use the restroom, if you need to.
2 - You are welcome to play your own music (at a reasonable volume, I have to take phone calls).
