Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

Yeah, that’s Lasik. Lasix is a diuretic.

Thanks – I’ve always said Lasix in my head. I’ll need to re-program my brain.

A more basic version was done oh so long ago…

I support local businesses when I can. If there’s something semi-esoteric in the hardware line we need, we go to one of the last independent hardware stores we know about. They have everything, and their staff is knowledgeable.

A major component of the “benefit” of job benefits is they’re mostly taken care of for you. I’ll take the normal salary and the lavish benefits.

Since the pandemic and the dearth of employable candidates, the staff at my local hardware store are dopes.

Besides companies can negotiate group discounts that you as an individual, can’t.

Whoops. He was on my original list, but I bumped him to make room for Reggie Mantle.

Who I am very disappointed has received zero recognition.

mmm

I don’t eat bugs that grow in dirt, either.

Reggie was the only name I recognised, though until I looked at the spoiler I was sure that you meant a different person with that name.

Me, too. I thought it might be the name of the Buzzcocks second noisemaker.

I had no ice cream this summer. I’m cool with that.

I recognize all those words, but in that particular order they are completely unintelligible.

I’ve only had ice cream once this summer so obviously I have a lot of catching up to do.

Had ice cream today, and considering making peppermint ice cream in December. Until then, the bottom drawer of the freezer is full of ice cream treats. Gotta work on that.

I’ve eaten my normal amount of ice cream, but what does the season have to do with anything?

Local ice cream stands are seasonal where I live in New England. They’re only open between June and October.

That’s interesting. Here (Pacific North West) we don’t have ice cream stands, to my knowledge. There are some B&R type ice cream shops, but they’re open year round.

I’m going to create a poll on where people get their ice cream. We’re not big ice cream eaters, but I’d guess 90% of the ice cream we do consume is purchased at a grocery store and eaten at home.

Does gelato count? Because I’ve had a few scoops of superior gelato in Vegas this summer. Otherwise I generally don’t eat ice cream.

I’m not picky about my ice cream, so most of what I eat is from the grocery store. Every now and then I’ll buy a single serving from a shop or stand, but that’s rare. There’s a Baskin Robbins on a corner I pass frequently on the way home, but transporting single-serve ice cream can be tricky, so I only stop there if I have someone else in the car and we’re both having a low impulse control day.

My total intake of ice cream isn’t really extreme; I’ll generally have a scoop or two twice or three times in a week. The only real difference in summer is that I’m more likely to eat it with some fresh fruit.
