Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

6 sinks. Double sinks in kitchen, singles in guest bath, double in Master Suite and a utility sink in the laundry room.

I have been strongly attracted to / potentially in love with someone who was married to somebody else. But I sure as hell didn’t do anything about it; and it wore off after a while.

I’m not sure whether the poll’s including attraction that stayed entirely inside one’s head.

I have had married people make passes at me; but I don’t think being in love had anything to do with it.

The one missing option applies to me: I have had a single person fall in love with me while I was married (which, FTR, I still am). It was…awkward.

My wife had a coworker fall for her. I don’t think she noticed. She had invited him over for a barbeque we were giving. The entire time, he was following her around like a sick puppy and shooting me “I’m going to steal your wife” looks.

The dude was SO far from her type, it was funny. She liked him, but would often regale me with “Guess what stupid thing Dude did today,” stories. When I told her of my suspicions, she actually laughed out loud. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

Yeah, the problem is how you define love. I’m married, happily I believe, and have been so for 22 years next month (plus several more years living together in an exclusive relationship). I haven’t felt “love” for someone else, though I’ve had times where I was powerfully attracted to other individuals, sometimes physically, sometimes in other ways. And of course, a bout or two of lust. But I fully differentiate between those an what I consider love. Voted “other”.

I took it literally (falling in love, as opposed to acting on it). Both spouse and I have fallen for other people. I think this is natural. After a while, it fades, and we appreciate each other more.

We will know by 10 or 11 PM on Election Night who won.

Too many mail in ballots, & some states they can’t even begin to count them until after the polls close at 8pm. Results will be known in a couple of days; whether they are accepted (I’m betting NO!) & how long that takes to litigate is a different matter. Supreme Court decided Bush/Gore on Dec 12th.

I was working with neurology patients at that time. One of the standard questions, to assess cognitive status, was “do you know who the president is?”

I remember when one guy answered “no”, I replied, “Neither do I.”

mmm

But that’s a source, not a sink! :grinning:

Double kitchen basins. I count it as one sink. However, if I were keeping kosher dishes separated, I’d call it two.

I haven’t the slightest idea whether women have fallen in love with me. There were a couple of occasions when they were mad at their husbands, and seemed to regard me as less maddening. But I don’t think either of them ever seriously considered infidelity.

On one occasion, the lottery jackpot got large enough to be interesting, and a co-worker said that if I won, she would divorce her husband and marry me. It was not an offer. It was a statement. My opinion in the matter was not asked.

MJ’s duet with Paul McCartney “Say,say, say” was my “Other” Michael Jackson song.

Say Say Say by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson

Yeah, me too. I’d say “there’s a window over the sink” or “put the dishes in the sink” or “the sink drain is plugged up.” I wouldn’t say any of those in the plural.

And they share a drain as well as a faucet.

Ok. Which time zone smarty pants?

If we know on Election Day or the next I suspect it will be very bad news. I suspect we will have a very good idea who won by the 6th but won’t know for sure for a week. Of course if it goes that way Trump won’t concede and there will be shenanigans.

The sink in my laundry room used to have two “bowls”. (Two separate sections that could be separately filled, anyway.) I always thought of it as a single sink, and replaced it with a sink with a single bowl recently.

Didn’t '20 election have a lot more D’s voting by mail-in ballot? Wasn’t that part of the ‘problem’; that Cheetoh was ahead when they counted those who voted in person but as more & more mail-ins were added to the tally they went overwhelmingly in favor of Biden & that could only mean they were false. ::we need a slot machine emoticon because that’s how much my eyes are rolling::

Growing up as a child of the 80s (6-16) I heard a LOT of Michael Jackson songs. Despite that, only a few really appealed to me, as tastes differ. But I did/do (with reservations for the obvious reasons) like Smooth Criminal (own as a single), Thriller (because of course), and Man in the Mirror from the later works. My “other” though was a technical - “Fat” by Weird Al. Bad always struck me as a kind of silly song, but the parody was spot on. And the song was done with MJ’s approval and assistance in terms of the set!

Granted, talking about conflicted feelings when it comes to songs, the possibility of fat shaming makes “Fat” a touch problematic sometimes. Although within the “world” of the song, being Fat is a peer-pressure approved way of fitting in does turn the tables a bit on the whole negative attitude towards big-bodied individuals at least.

I only voted for “Beat It.” It’s more Eddie Van Halen and Steve Lukather than Michael Jackson. Other than that I really like “Give Me One More Chance” by the Jackson 5. To a lesser extent I like other songs by the group more than his solo work.

There are definitely other people here who have looked into it more than me. Early voting and vote by mail are no longer new and scary so I think the gap between the parties won’t be quite as significant. Then there are a hodgepodge of rules in different states as to when ballots can start to be counted and until when they accept mail in votes. It’s still a mess.

I prefer the Weird Al version.

Thriller is the only one I am a big fan of.
