No, because at the end of the day Homer is a decent person who genuinely cares about his family and friends. He’s a moron and screws up a lot but is capable of remorse.
Well, I did post something a few months into Donny Two-scoops’ administration, during his Rocket Man era, about his first day.
Staffer: Here is the Oval Office, sir, and this is the Resolute Desk. Donnie: O-o-oh. And what’s the big red button for? Staffer: That, um, launches nuclear missiles at North Korea. Donnie: Take that, King John Un! And that, and that, and that! Staffer: [aside to another staffer] Good thing we disconnected that yesterday.
Needless to say, I was picturing a Homer voice for DJT.
I’m sorry that when they make a movie about the Trump administration, Rodney Dangerfield isn’t around to play Donald. Every time ol’ Two Scoops whines about how the press or the Dems are being mean to him, I picture Rodney pulling on his collar and saying, “I don’t get no respect.”
In addition to what others have said about Homer being fundamentally well meaning, the Frank Grimes quote is particularly off because everyone realizes that Trump is an idiot. Democratic voters, independent voters, politicians of all parties, business leaders, foreign heads of state and their publics, etc. Even most of the Americans who voted for him realized he’s an idiot but saw him as preferable to the alternative. It’s a vanishingly small segment of die-hard Trumpers who continue to think that he’s some kind of a secret mastermind.
What Flurb said. That episode ends with Lenny saying, “That’s our Homer!”, while Homer snores at Frank Grimey Grimes’ funeral, moaning, “Change the channel, Marge.” Everyone knows Homer’s clueless.
Homer doesn’t care about having embarrassing moments. What Donny is most afraid of.
I’m still waiting for that part in the episode where Trump has a come to Jesus moment. And then he proceeds to makes a heartfelt apology promising to change the error of his ways.
