Dog Days: An August MMP

lol am i the only one who gets tired just reading about @fcms daily adventures although do to my natural sloth and the time differences some of yall had full days while I’m just struggling to wake up …

Hmm. If that’s the state of doggio’s handbasket, my characterization of “posh” definitely needs rethinking. But yeah, like bumba says, if there’s a bar (how could there not be?), I’m in.

Buddy is a treasure. Happy cat!!

Taters, good luck with finding a hiking group that suits. There sure are a lot of them in our spot of paradise.

Cookie, I’m so glad Mrs. Cookie did not suffer a worse injury. Wishes for quick healing!

shoe, your wildflower bouquet is charming. I love making use of “weed” flowers myself. Daisy, dandelion, fox glove, bachelor’s buttons, wild iris, grape hyacinth and others grow everywhere here. I also love wild roses, but they’re too delicate to pick. They sure scent the air when they’re in bloom, though. Intoxicating!

JtC, how cool you are recently re-tooled! It will make your stitching so much more of a joy. (I feel the same about having a well-outfitted kitchen.) Also, poor GG. His adventures crack me up.

Metal Mouse, good luck with the new neighbors. While I have a lot of sympathy for homeowners whose properties can get away from them for a variety of reasons (illness, e.g.), it’s still always nice when you get a new neighbor who cleans things up.

Sunny, I used to have cats that did the same thing as Zorro, only with the garage door. They were indoor models and we had a cat door cut between the garage and the house so they could come and go into the house as they pleased. But when we opened the garage door, they would both sit and stare out at the big bad world for hours. Neither would ever venture beyond the invisible boundary. It was kind of sad. Hope you get the mortgage glitch worked out quickly and without too much trouble.

FCM, happy loafing!! You’ve certainly earned it!

nightshadea, I’m with you. I guess we move at a slower pace.

Speaking of a slow pace, I’m luxuriating in another pleasant day. It’s a nice one for a little ramble through the woods. I’ve already spotted the little gray-brown (or is she brown-gray?) bunny that lives behind the house and the ever-present annoying herd of deer who like to eat my geraniums and roses. Waiting on the coyote who likes to hunt rodents in the pasture.

Happy Firday to all!!

Went to the drugstore and bought an anniversary card and a couple of other things. The total seemed a bit high. I checked the receipt when I got into the car, and the Papyrus card cost $10.50. Maybe I won’t sign it and the Spousal Unit can give it to me next year.

Taz has escaped a few times, but he goes about 10-20 feet from the house, then hunkers down and yowls, so he’s easy to catch and return to the house. Apart from our promise to keep him inside when we rescued him, by being an indoor cat, I don’t have to worry about fleas, ticks, neighborhood dogs, or what he might do to a bird, should he catch it. Tho he’s such an old man now, he rarely ventures farther than my lap.

I just finished loading the truck - we’re meeting at the school at 8. SIL will come over with the kids and help move the furniture, then he’ll take them away and we’ll commence to painting. The walls are cinderblock - I hate painting cinderblock. But I’ll deal. At least they have been painted before, so they won’t suck up too much paint. I’ll try to get some pics before and after.

Greeting cards are ridiculously $$$, IMHO. But I just send e-cards, so no biggie to me.

Nope. She’s the Energizer Bunny of the MMP.

JtC, I’m with you on the good tools thing. I also own a battery operated ribbon iron. GG’s antics made me giggle.

flyboy, one of the reasons that I got into making cards as a scrapbooker a couple of decades ago was spending 45 minutes and $6 on a card that I wasn’t really impressed with. I got to thinking, I have all the stuff to make something that I’d like and have been doing it since. When I sell them, I tend to get $10-20 each.

Got all the Firday chores done. I also finished up a trio of dog sympathy cards because I had sent the last of my stash.

Y’all done flung a cravin’ on me for a patty melt, so I made one, complete with grilled onions and a side of fried okra (I accidentally picked up a bag a few weeks when I wanted okra for gumbo. Not impressed, but I’ll finish the bag). I may snack on popcorn later.

Howdy Y’all! We were all slothful and useless as I promised we would be. We did manage to make martinis for day drinkin’ out on the back porch whilst watchin’ the rain. Plus we did manage to heat up and eat sup as well as clean up afterwards. I count that as some productivity.

Boo I’ve had and made loose meet sammiches. I like 'em. However, I do not like sloppy Joes. I think they taste icky. Except, I have had sloppy Joes with a mustard based sauce that were good. So, sometimes I like sloppy Joes, I guess.

Taters sorry about your hike. I hope you find a group that you like to take you in so you can go hike to your heart’s content.

JtC hee! Thanks for the GG story. It made me laugh.

Cookie glad the wife is doin’ OK today,

sunny Zorro is a cute lil’ ol’ doggie!

Evening all. Helped out a little at soccer, then came home and mowed the front yard (2.5 bogs worth–I really let it grow too long this time). Combined with 1,700 yards swimmin’, it’s been a fairly active day, but now time for sloth. Eating a couple of braunsweiger sammiches on rye with lettuce, so that will hold me until tomorrow.

flyboy, don’t buy many cards these days and even for papyrus, that’s pretty steep.

red, beautiful cards, those are worth the money.

Cookie, y’all want to forward me some (all) of those Cinnamon/nut rolls…

Sunny, this day and age don’t mind if they roll their eyes; keep repeating the rules. And love the doggy pic.

OK, need to wind down, work on my puzzles and finish the day’s internettin’. Take care all.

Or I’m just a liar…

About to drag myself back to bed - I set an early alarm just to be sure I don’t oversleep. I expect to be soooooooore by the end of tomorrow since I haven’t used my painting muscles in several years. The color scheme is 3 walls in really light green, and 1 wall dark green. My daughter likes green. Plus that’s her last name, so…

OK, beddy-bye for me. < yawn>

Up from naptime, got a load of laundry in. It’s only 73 out. I went to the likker sto, but they were out of Tanquray #10. I’ll have to hit the one by the porn shop tomorrow. #IfTheGinRunsOutWeRiot
And dinner tonight is Doritos Locos toacos, yellow rice, and cilantro lime corn. And I’m having a gin&tonic becuase it’s 9:00 on a SaturdayFriday.

[Chewy commercial]“Hey Georgio, Peanut Butter Box is here!”[/Chewy commercial]

< BONK >
GG; “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MOTRESSOR..oh wait, there’s the door…”
< flees >

:notes: Think I’ll slip on down to The Oasis..:notes:

Alex Catt has escaped 3 times. Once, she ran into the stairwell, screeched, and ran back in(it was 40 and damp that day), once she was sitting in the paint closet in the stairwell, and the third time, she ran 15 feet, I called her, and she ran back in.

There too many pics on FB for it to be a lie. If it’s on the Internet, it has to be true - Socrates

Walked up the beach today instead of down. The north side of the bay is shallower than the south side. That means that when the tide is out, there’s a lot of sea vegetation exposed. That means it’s rather… aromatic. So the scenery is king of boring, it’s malodorous, and there’s too much traffic. I think I’ll stick to walking down the beach. Anyway, I got 2.25 miles in, at an average pace of 2.87 mph.

Out of Tanquray doggio? Quelle horreur!

One of my previous cats would always try to run out the door whenever it was opened.

Whenever she succeeded, she didn’t try to run away. She’d run about six feet, stop, then roll around on her back, as if exclaiming, “Yay! I’m outside!!” Then she’d trot back into the house.

Cats is weird.

Evidently the squirrels have made a new entry into the attic. I can hear them in there. I must needs to hack down walnut saplings and find the new entry. I just repaired the end of the soffit on the south-east corner of the house earlier this summer. F-in little rats with tails.

The best thing about our gormless guy is that he is always so happy and optimistic. So what he ran into the wall, he still has a chance to get out the kitty door before VBC gets there, so ZOOM! If VBC gets out there first, she entertains herself by playing whack-a-mole with the flap when GG tries to come through.

So far, he hasn’t figured out that if he just bulls his way through the door she can’t stop him.
He also doesn’t understand why he doesn’t get to play whack-a-mole with her and when she comes through the flap he is too shocked to remember that she is was chasing him for a reason. (If they are playing, she hooks the flap with her claws and pulls it inwards so she can go through that way and kick his butt while he’s staring at the flap with his mouth open. Otherwise she goes through head first or not, as the mood strikes.)

It makes sense that you would have a ribbon iron, do you have any recommendations or are they all pretty much the same? Do you think it would also work to take the kinks out of DMC floss after it’s been plied? I didn’t see anyone using one to unkink floss, but we were using silk which doesn’t have a tight twist like cotton floss. How long do they take to cool off after being shut down? (I like to put my tools away promptly because GG is so very helpful.)

I’m loving my new stand so much! shoe, your beautiful projects are so small that they don’t look like you would want a stand for them, but if you do, I would send you my old one. It works well enough, but flipping the frame over is a super pain…and it’s wood so it’s too heavy for me to easily carry around. With all the things you carry at work, I’m fairly sure the weight wouldn’t be an issue for you. Oh, and it also doesn’t work well with scroll frames but would probably work well enough with the hoops you use.

All of our cats with the exception of GG have been strays. They have always seem to think that being an inside cat is better than living on the streets and show no interest in the doors. Happily, VBC has shown GG that doors to the outside are uninteresting so we don’t have to worry about him. Of course we are careful to not trap a cat between us and the open door, that might startle them enough to step outside and then they might get scared enough to run off.

Oh, I remember you having to fix part of your place before and it sounded like very not fun. Have you ever considered adopting a cat? Cats are good for working folks because they are OK with being left alone all day. If you get a young cat when you find your new pup and raise them together, they will probably get along fairly well all of their lives. Many cats are excellent ratters, so I’d have to guess they would be hell on squirrels in their home as well.

Made me snort laugh🤣~thanks I needed it. My power beleaguered brain even supplied sound effects for the sight gag.

I’m happy to make you laugh! I “hear” the Benny Hill song around here on a regular basis

Up, cafffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. it’s my Firday. it’s 65 degrees ferret height, so it should be a less uncomfortable shift today…

You obviously have a very inviting attic. When we moved into this house, we found a dessicated bat corpse stuck to the vent screen at the north end of our attic - it must have come in thru the fan when it wasn’t running.

Awoke to 60° in our back yard!! The house has been open all yesterday and all night, and it will remain so today. Lovin’ it - cool weather in mid-August in Merrylande?? Huzzah!!

I’m dressed in my painting duds and in about 40 minutes, I’ll head out, with a stop at the credit union for some cash, then I’ll fetch a McBreakfast before continuing on to the school. I’m hoping my arthritic fingers don’t make it more difficult to manage a paintbrush. It doesn’t seem to be a problem once my hands are warmed up/flexed up. I’ll probably pop an ibuprofen or two before I go.

So I don’t expect to pop back in here till after I’m done. I may post a few pics on FB as I get the chance - if you’re not my friend there, you’re gonna miss out… hint hint

For now, tho, I’ve got some morning funnies to read. Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 86 and cloudy for the day. Since it is less hot than usual out mowage shall be accomplished as soon as it’s dry enough out to do so. I know, I know, mowage is not a slothful thing, but still it must be done lest we have the worst lookin’ yahd in da ‘hood. Sloth and nappage shall follow, along with day drinkin’ and general overall uselessness. Any need to feed today will be via forage as there are plenty of sammich makin’s and so forth.

MOOOOOOM happy paintin’!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
