Arrrrrrrgh! 1! 1!!!
My mother@#$/ing movers aren’t here yet.
They were supposed to be here sometime between noon and four. They are supposedly 45 minutes from arriving, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
missred, when I’ve had late arrivals like that I wouldn’t mind so much if they would simply own up, say they are running late, and will get there as quickly as possible. Instead folks tantalize you and make you afraid to leave, for their own convenience, not yours.
I got new glasses and a new prescription today! I can see again, yay!
You know that eclipse next year I’ve been mentioning? Well, in 2024 there will be another in the USA, arcing from Texas up to Maine. A town in Illinois, Carbondale, will be at the intersection of the two paths of totality, meaning they will get a total eclipse twice in under seven years. How great is that for them? I’ll be folks have already booked rooms for 2024.

Had some skin removed from my nose; literally. The good news is that we got whatever it is (it had a long name) so early that the Doc doesn’t want to see me again for a year. The bad news is that after he got the sample he wanted he froze it and now I have this frostbitten nose in August. :smack:
Got my flu shot, got my store 100% covered for vacation, got a cold Gaelic ale in hand. Life is good.
Jack Frost nipping at your nose, and Jack Daniels nipping at your liver?![]()

Yay for FCD being home, Moooommmmm!
red, give 'em both barrels(after they’ve unloaded, of course)
swampy, I’d go with the G&T. Stops leg cramps, malaria, and scurvy to boot.
Raises are good.
Payday today (direct deposit isn’t happening yet, darn it!). Also got another 100% call (short, trying one where the guy flatly refused to give any needed info, but supe liked how I handled him), and an award for “attendance all-star” for July (no absences or tardies).
Forgot to mention tonight’s dinner menu, which is magic Internet pizza, side munchies, and huge chocolate chip cookie.
“Dad, can we watch the next episode of Last Man On Earth?”
“Yeah, sure, it’s on now.”
(We’re over an hour in to 2001: A Space Odyssey and she’s still asking when they’re going to get back to the regular part of the show with the last people on earth)
The girls have survived the first week of school. It’s apparently international year for the sophomore - new friends from Korea, Switzerland, Egypt, and Pakistan. Little Miss seems ambivalent about first grade. So far, she likes recess and lunch. Still packing up for The Boy, who will move out next weekend and start university on Monday. The baby is 4, and I kinda want her to stay this age forever - her siblings are growing up too fast!
In other dull domestic news, we’re finally getting a new heat pump next week. Whee! (But at least I get a “told you so” out of the transaction. Before we moved, I said “let me call Uncle Ronnie to put in the heat pump.” Tony called someone else, who never did install the heat side right. We made do with space heaters and the fireplace for 3 years. When the air quit working, Tony asked around - came home with a phone number for “N” Heating and Air - everyone recommended. And I pulled up the same number on my phone. “Oh, you mean Ronnie? Uncle Ronnie?” I really don’t think that my husband (bless his heart) has figured out that I really am related to the whole county.
And Swampy, we have a recent Baby Walmart here. It’s called the Smallmart. (And our tiny excuse for a shopping mall is usually called the SMall.)
Mooom, glad that Dad is home. May his recovery be easy on both of you. And you too, Ruble. Glad your nose critter was minor.
Best to everyone packing and moving and raising kids and doing yard work and such. Rosie’s signature to all.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. 2 more days of work till vacation.
Congrats on the raise, sari!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 and cloudy out with a predicted high of 91, mostly cloudy and rain late afternoon into early evenin’. We shall see. Plans today include attendin’ the Ordination to the Priesthood of my friend this mornin’ and mowage of the back forty over to the church house this afternoon. The thing about bein’ retired is one can do stuff like that on Sattidy and not feel like one has wasted a day off irk.
{{{BitKitty}}} so sorry about your dad. Dementia is just so wrong.
Sari yay on the raise!
Peaches N.O.L. and recess were my favorite subjects in elementary skool.
Nettie yay on the job doin’ so well so far.
red I’m trustin’ you’re all moved now.
OK I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then I must purtify and suit up at some point. The Ordination is at ten a.m. so I got a while yet. However 'tis a small church so it’s probably best to be there earlyish to get a seat.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
4:04 error…sleep not found.
Insomnia sucks!
Well, I got some sleep last night, but not a lot and definitely not uninterrupted. This morning, **FCD **took some more pain meds and said he wanted to try sleeping in the guest bed. For some weird reason, he likes that old, sad mattress better than our new one. Whatever works for him is fine by me. I think he’s asleep - I hope he is, poor baby.
We got some rain last night - excellent excuse not to mow.
I may lie down for a nap. Apart from a little bit of laundry, no real plans today. Someone is coming over to look at the camper on Tues and I’ve had a couple other inquiries - hope it’s gone soon! I just noticed that I failed to put “Cash Only” in my ad. I need to edit that.
So much for a yawn-y, overcast Saturday…
blurf
Blurf indeed.
Just got up, for the second time; I’m sure this isn’t a standard landlord problem, but I just had to get up at 5 (after going to bed at midnight ish) to take my landlord to the [del]vet to be neutered[/del] horsepistol for shoulder surgery. I went ‘for a nap’ when I got back and basically slept through til midday. Oops.
Someone else is bringing him back, but Iv think I’ve been volunteered to keep an eye on him for the afternoon, which means I’m stuck in 'cos I don’t know when he’s due back, so I can’t go to the mini free festival in the park round the corner like I was planning.
Oh well.
I don’t know how long I’m going to last at irk today. Didn’t sleep last night.
I’m all purtified and suited up. OYKW is suitin’ up as I post. When he’s done we shall leave. We need to be there by nine-thirty to get a seat I’m thinkin’. St. John and Mark Church is kinda smallish. I’d hate to have to ask somebody to move after all.
**FCD **is napping again. I just got back from picking up his meds and getting a few things at Food Lion. I want lunch, but I don’t know what I want. I need the Lunch Fairy to show up with exactly what it is I want to eat, tho I have no idea what that is.
Probably just have a bowl of watermelon.
Happy Saturday!
It’s a cloudy 79 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 89 today.
We’ll do inside irk today, and outside irk tomorrow.
I didn’t sleep hardly at all last night and I’d probably be sleeping now if some asshole telemarketer hadn’t called and woke me up. They hung up on me before I had a chance to tell them - well, y’all are better off not knowing what I was going to tell them.
{{{BigKitty}}} Dementia is a horrible thing.
Congrats at doing well on the new job Nettie
I have a big list of things to do this weekend.
I’m taking the weekend off, and I am determined to finish the list.
First, some breakfast. I can’t work on an empty stomach.
I’ve been there!
