Doper Dating Bulletin Board

arisu, you better get a stick because you may have to fend off a mob of admirers. You sound like a wonderful person.

You know, I’ve always liked Boston and have wanted to visit sometime (my family is originally from Mass somewhere). Hmmm, now where is Boston runs off to find a map

I have a confession to make: It took me most of the way through an episode of People Like Us before I “got it”. I kept thinking “what the…I can’t believe they didn’t edit that out” But after about the 4th iteration, I FINALLY clued in to the premise of the show. :smack: My only regret is that my PBS station doesn’t normally broadcast it, and since my budget doesn’t allow for cable, there is no BBC America for me :frowning:

Additional info: Sci-fi and fantasy don’t do much for me, although there are few episodes of StarTrek:TNG or Voyager that I haven’t seen. I read regularly, mostly modern fiction, but lots of the classics and the occasional biography or professional title. I don’t drink coffee because my caffeine must be carbonated. And despite having lived in Annapolis for 7 years, I do not eat seafood; my food must run or fly - it can not swim.

Frank’s right, arisu. If you weren’t, literally, half my age…

But, what I really popped in for was to invite you to Unite and Fest, in case you hadn’t seen it. There are at least two eligible males of approximately your age who attend these things on a semi-regular basis. And, if you start showing up, I’m sure more will emerge from hiding.

The Cup will be ours for years to come. Try and get it from us. Just you try.

Ninjas!- e-mail me if you like- I’m trying to find someone to watch that outdoor game with me and, oddly enough, am finding no takers. If I don’t alienate you between now and then, who knows?

We’ll get along fine…

unless you dis Hasek.

Oh hell,I gotta post. Major lurker, minor poster.“nuff said. Now for the particulars. SWF 43 years old psyically (mentally somewhere around mid 20’s) lousy speller too. About 5’2” curly brown hair, glasses 10 or 20 lbs overweight, currently living in NY metro area (queens to be precise). Good sense of humour, likes the beach, street fairs, traveling, cooking. I watch the food channel like other people watch CNN.
Enough about me. HMM what do I want? Preferably a guy who’s kind, decent and breathing. I like teddybear kind of guys but as long as you’re good hearted and we share some of the same interests I’m game.

Now that I’ve summoned up the courage to post I’m going to sneak off to bed to dream about possible doper matches. (sneaks off to bed with high hopes of replies tomorrow).

Well, it is very late, and I am very tired, but I must thank Frank #2* and Davebear for their extremely flattering comments. And Dave, having checked out that other thread, I must say it does dsound fun, and I may summon the courage to attend.

And yes, I spell and code that badly, and still expect you to believe I have a college “educatioin”.

I’ve nothing to lose…I’ll give this a shot.

The basics: male, two weeks shy of being 21, white, straight, 5’8", 155 lbs., dirty blond, blue eyes, non-smoker who enjoys a drink now and then.

Occupation: I’m an undergrad studying engineering at Univ of Kentucky. My summer job for the past several years has been working for an architect (hence the username).

Interests: playing guitar and piano, photography, shooting pool, working on engines, and counting mullets (I keep a tallied list in my wallet).

Personality: Easy going, occasionally moody, witty sense of humor (well, I’m wittier than the general public, but I don’t really stand out among us intellectuals on the SDMB.

Culture: Lately I’ve been reading some Douglas Adams works and The Stranger by Albert Camus. I love The Simpsons and The History Channel…I don’t watch TV otherwise. I play Magic: the Gathering every once in a while. I was extremely athletic back in high school, but have been limited to intramural flag football in college. And of course, I manage to lurk on the straight dope about once a week.

Reigion: Dabbling in Buddhism for some time now…raised by Catholic parents.

Dislikes: arrogant people.

I hope the server can handle a sudden influx of emails from interested females…HA (Mrs. Krabappel laugh)

What the heck…here goes.

Male, 34, straight. Heavy body that is roughly pear shaped…the only exercise I get regularly is walking to work and the occasional bar fight. 6’4"…glasses that I can’t see without…hazel-green eyes. I have been told I seem stern by people who only see me at work but I’ve a big goofy sense of humor that few get to see. I work hard at crappy jobs. I don’t smoke, but have been known to drink a large amount of beer in one evening. I don’t own a car at the moment. I read a lot on a wide range of subjects such as History, Science, general fiction, Fantasy and mysteries. Kind of a nerd. Can be a flirt, but shy about anything more. I like movies of all kinds and I’ve been known to see “chick flicks” by myself. Honest, polite and generally a “nice-guy” with a lot of female friends who loves music of most sorts, has two cats and likes dogs. I can be hugely sarcastic at times. I like public displays of affection and am willing to give most things a try. I like a good conversation and can argue a point without taking it personally. Tough physically but emotionally a big softie…
Looking for…Someone nice to spend time with…online or in “the real world” in the NYC area.

So, arisu, how you doi-- <looks at arisu’s age> Damn.

Please do attend. Neither pool nor spelling skills are required. Social skills are a plus. And, it’s looking like I’ll have no reason to miss it, as I hoped (Dammit!), so I’ll probably be there to defend you from anyone who makes fun of your spelling. (Not that anyone would.)

 But dogs can swim!

Perhaps you were up past your bedtime? A mare is a female horse, not a dog.

And I am confused because I don’t see the connection. Even if Davebear was right and you thought that a mare was a female dog, how would their ability to swim factor in to my dislike of seafood? Maybe I am missing something:confused:

[Sam Jackson from Pulp Fiction]

I don’t eat dog, either.

Just popped in to give props to beerchick - she’s awesome, guys.

Cosmopolitan thanks. At least someone thinks I’m awesome. You’re pretty cool too. Now if one of us was a guy we’d probably have a hookup.

I’m a guy. But, you know, there’s that whole distance and likely age thing.
