Doper Dating Bulletin Board

(looking at her link)

Oh…my…sweet…mother…of…God. And all those 70s in her various handles would say she’s old enough

Okay, maybe I need to rethink that “Sorry, girls, I’m taken” statement. (lascivious  )

Can we nominate other people? My brother is single, but would never post to a thread like this. And he’ll kill me for doing in on his behalf. Come to think of it, he may not kill me–a very stern Pit thread is a pretty scary thing! So, anyway…

My brother Billdo’s
a heck of a guy.
He’s real smart,
Knows 8 digits of pi!

He’s a lawyer,
But he’s not a scum.
He can’t sing a note,
He can’t even hum!

He lives in New York,
Upper West Side.
Dumb boring people,
He cannot abide.

He’s Man Mountain Bill,
He likes outdoor sports.
He kayaks and hikes,
Sails to distant ports.

His ideal lady,
Is dark-haired and zaftig,
But he’s not overly picky,
About looks–he’s no pig.

She’s gotta be smart,
Down to earth, cool, and fun,
And witty and clever,
And quick with a pun.

If you won’t try new things,
You need not apply.
No uptight people,
Will like this crazy guy.

So won’t somebody please,
Go out with my brother.
His sister’s a pain,
But he has a nice mother!

(Okay, so I’m not much of a poet. But Bill is really great. Really!)

How you doin’ ArrrMatey?

Yes, Billdo is a helluva guy. A girl could do a lot worse.

Kalhoun, I like your idea, especially if it doesn’t require any effort or attendance on my part.

Since I share responsibility for starting this thread, I may as well jump in.

SJM, 31, 5-10, highly intelligent, quirky sense of humor, seeks SJF for tango, shul, Savoyard operettas, theme parks, and Straight Dope discussions. Hyperactivity to do all of this in one weekend is a plus. Open Water cert (or higher) is desirable but not required. My commercial site profile is available on request; please email me privately.

And bittersweet, how you doing? ;j

Added on preview: Kalhoun, is Thanksgiving weekend enough time to set up a Singles DopeFest? (I’d suggest Labor Day, but I’m booked that weekend.)

:: looks at calendar :: Hey, Halloween is a Friday night this year! What could be better?

<grin>

Why the hell not?
/shrug

Male, 33. Computer programmer.

Likes: rollerblading, raquetball, novice camper. Convertibles. Live music. Obviously, I do like Jimmy Buffett, but not to the exclusion of other tunes. Has nothing against an occasional drink or two. Love reading books. Debates on virtually any subject (if I don’t have an opinion, I’ll make one up to keep life interesting) I am way more into “cute, smart” girls than I am into “beautiful, glamourous” girls. Just my speed, I guess.

Hate to ever say never… but… smokers are just out. The stuff gets to me. Sorry.

<smile> If you just think you can no longer live without me, e-mail is below

And Kalhoun, if anyone ever organized one of these in Dallas, I would likely attend.

I’m lazy. Here’s my match.com profile:

*I just moved to Kansas City, and hopefully I’ll have the privilege of calling it “home” for a long time. I’m a down-to-earth, unpretentious, curious, creative, fun, mischevious and eclectic soul, a ‘recovering nice guy’ hoping to find a kindred spirit to be a partner in crime. I still embrace my inner child, but I’ve adjusted to the real world. I’m a financially secure working professional who loves his job, but my attitiude is “work to live,” not “live to work.” My mindset is left of center, but right of Berkeley. I’m a city person by nature, but I enjoy outdoor adventures and the stark beauty of the plains. I’m an adequate pool and dart player, a voracious reader of non-fiction, fascinated by architecture and the built environment, a fan of the visual arts, and a closet geek. I enjoy the occasional Home Depot date, along with the theme parks, tourist traps, gallery openings, dog parks, and road trips. Superficially … 37, 5’10", 165 pounds, with a full head of short brown/black hair, and what are probably the biggest blue eyes in northern Johnson County. Not a hunk, but cute nonetheless; nobody has run screaming at the sight of me, or been embarrassed to show me off to her friends. I think.

I’m not necessarily seeking a clone who shares every belief or interest of mine … just mutual acceptance and joy at each other’s presence. Ideally, you’re a fun, talkative girl-next-door type with an edge; idealistic but not dogmatic, a dreamer but not lost in the clouds. You’re a true individual with a slightly warped sense of humor, and you can appreciate things that an average person might not bother to take a second look at. You should like pooches; two very intelligent, friendly Portuguese Water Dogs form my pack. You’re empathetic, tactile, sincere and available. However, you aren’t a holy roller out to convert me, “kountry kitschy,” pining for an ex-boyfriend, or reserved and quiet. You don’t have to be Barbie, but I’m most attracted to women who don’t outsize me. An interesting, articulate letter with a photo is a good thing. One-liners, form letters, and lists of generic romance novel clichés are not. Later?*

Can’t hurt.

Male, 20, Systems Admin/Web and Graphic Designer, Musician.
Likes: The outdoors, music, reading, wasting the day away in coffee shops. Nothing against drinking but personally don’t enjoy being drunk. Trying (very hard) to quit smoking. Like Parrothead I’m more into the “cute/smart” thing than the “beautiful/glamorous” thing. Though really all I care about is if she has something between the ears.

Also I’m a Christian, but open-minded.

What the heck~
34. F. 5’9"ish. Round-ish (I prefer exceedingly curvy).
Introverted, somewhat misanthropic. Tattoed. Love my job 95% of the time. Parent. Usually does not speak in such short sentences. Warped humor. Short RED hair (recent bad experience with L’Oreal). Specs. A tad too much attitude. “Unique looking”, but not in a Picasso kind of way. Smokes. Rarely drinks alcohol. Bookworm. GREAT cook. Hates receiving roses. Goes to many movies (what’s the technical term for that- filmofile?). Loves blues/jazz/metal/bluegrass.

How’s that?

MissTake, if I was a guy looking for a date, I think I’d give you a call just based on your profile. I like your honesty.

Too bad I’m a chick! (who’s living with her SO, so why in hell am I even in this thread???)

I don’t belong here either, but I have to agree with scout1222 on MissTake’s profile. It’s excellent. And “unique looking, but not in a Picasso kind of way” is the funniest thing I’ve read all day.

Tee-hee… /blushes and bats eyelashes

Oh my goodness gracious! I clicked on bittersweet’s link and initially thought it was one of those fake pics you see on personals sites. You know the type: the lady is always super-duper hot and wants you and only you, now, now, now? That kind. Then I noticed the name of the Web site and am now thoroughly convinced of its utter veracity.

Okay, I’ll bite.

Female, 19 (20 in August)

I’m a Student/Musician/summer part-time movie theater employee, graduating from college next spring with a B.A. with a Music major, and still no freaking idea what I’m gonna do after then. I’m a singer/songwriter/mediocre guitar player and music is my life, I listen to a lot of pop, rock, metal and punk, not really into country or rap/r&B/hip-hop.

I’m smart (I think), I’m funny (In my head), I’m my own person. I’m very opinionated, and I love it when I can have a serious debate with a guy and he’ll listen to me, not talk down to me, and make me think. I don’t watch a lot of TV, mostly because I don’t own one at school and the house I’m living in for the summer doesn’t have cable. I really don’t keep up on current events and politics as much as I probably should. I didn’t hear about the whole D.C. sniper thing until 8 or 9 people had been killed. :o I guess I’m just unique, not too good at describing myself, really.

As for looks, I’m a fat chick, I admit it. And I am a damn sexy fat chick. I don’t really fit into a style, I guess. I guess I’ve got a bit of a punky vibe but I would never call myself a punk. I’m just… me. I dress for comfort over fashion, mostly in jeans and shirts, I used to dye my hair a lot (a habit I’m trying to get out of…). I don’t think I even own a pair of heels, but I’ve got a few pairs of platforms. I hate buying shoes because I have huge fat feet. I have really gorgeous green eyes.

And… I’m really bad at describing myself, but this will have to do, I suppose. I’m single! I’m lonely! Luv me?

::wanders off wondering what she’s gotten herself into::

Yeah, dat me. I’m not a good liar. If you click on the link to my website, you’ll see 2 more pics…the “Glamour Shots” one is quite fetching (NOT!).

Heh. Been there. Haven’t done that.

[Lady’s Man Voice]

Oooooo… It’s a lady

[/Lady’s Man Voice]

Anyway… Just posting my stuff for fun, doubt I will get any hits cuz no one lives within 100 miles from me <--------(insert extreme Exaggeration here)

19, m… 6’0, long (below my ears) brown hair, hazel eyes 140 lbs. (no i’m not deathly skinny, just fit)

Just started going to college after a year long hiatus after high school. Planning to major in Psychology with some underworkings of anthropology in there somewhere. Work 3 days a week teaching yoga at an eating disorder recovery center.

Very shy but fun to know once you talk to me a bit! Very deliberate personality, as opposed to easy going. Which means I am reltively easy going, but superficial friendships/discussions don’t hold much interest for me. I like deep conversations yet I also love listening. Outgoing women are a major plus, yet I can get along with pretty much anyone. Love to laugh and have fun.

Just looking for a true companion.

elmwood: Dayum! I think I love you!

I’m: 24 & an undergrad majoring in English & double minoring in secondary education & psychology. I’ll be out with a B.A. & an M.S. by the summer of 2005, certified to teach English for grades 7-12. I’m excited about the idea of teaching - I view it as a career, not just something that pays bills while I try to make it with my writing.

I’m: a font of useless (as well as occasionally useful) knowledge; I suspect that I’d make a good Jeopardy contestant. The History Channel, A&E, TLC & Discovery are favorite channels of mine. I love the poetry of Dorothy Parker.

I’m: a poet who hasn’t written much lately & a procrastinator who always gets everything done. I have an odd sense of humor & am probably seen as being slightly wacky, but harmless. I have a dimple & a raucous laugh. I’m not the party animal that I was in my late teens, though I enjoy going out to a couple favorite haunts with a few favorite people.

I’m: a non-smoker & social drinker (hard liquor & mixed drinks only - no beer). I’m very physically affectionate - I enjoy showing that I care. Low-maintenence, generally.

And I’m: 5’5 and on the heavy side - size 16. I’m physically disabled & thus, I use a manual wheelchair to get around. An ex-boyfriend once told me that my (greenish-blue) eyes are my best “non-boob feature”.

Anything else, you’ll have to ask about.

(aside) Dude, you know what’s really sick? She’s “just” rated a 9.4 at HotOrNot. What somebody has to do to get a 10 is beyond me–I’m convinced there are people who cruise that site just to give attractive people ones. Hell’s bells, any woman who bats her eyes at me is at LEAST a 15! Even some guys would be 10s, and I’m straight, just a sucker for that Southern Belle thing. Have to admit that Lsura and Miss Take have my attention, too. And, of course, Eve has been my custom-built love of my life for years. Maybe my wife might consider…
