I like the pictures that Chronos and Silver Tyger Girl have linked. The former are very artsy (as was the intent, no doubt) and as for the latter, we needed more shots of women in this thread anyway, and hers are quite nice.

I’m tempted to look at The Weird One’s pictures but as bruises sometimes freak me out, I haven’t plucked up the courage yet.

I think some of the reason people aren’t seeing the artisitic merit is the fact that you just kind of posed in front of a closet and kept the red eye. That screams amateur porn to a lot of people.

Think of it this way: To those who like how you look, you’d be doing a favor. So that’s good. To those who don’t like how you look, you’d be doing a disservice. Since you apparently aren’t too keen on those folks, that’s good, too. It’s instant karma.

I mean, if you have other reasons for not wanting to post pics (which can be as simple as “I just don’t feel like it”), that’s fine. But make the decision for yourself, not for other people.

Yes, I’m referring back to Doc Cathode’s shot. It took me a few moments to remember my art history 101 and 102 course from college to analyse it. I’m glad we concur in our opinioin. I’ve not followed the Pit thread. I’m trying to stay out of the Pit for the sake of my blood pressure.

It’s strange that it takes us a while to pull our mind from seeing an image to actually looking at it and analysing what it’s saying. The presence of an erect penis does strange things to one’s mind. Tells us something about our society.

It’s not the erect penis that’s putting me (and I bet a lot of us) off. I adore Mapplethorpe’s homoerotic work, for instance. It’s just that technically the OP’s is a very amateur shot (poor lighting, no attention to backgrounds, so-so composition, red eye) and the content is, well, maybe somewhat acceptable if there was a hint of irony or intentional humor in it, but from the looks and sounds of it, it is meant to be sincere.

Hey, I wasn’t originally analyzing it as “art,” but now that the term has been thrown around, and insinuations have been made that it’s the erect penis that’s putting us off, I have to respond that we’re not all like OMG!!! IT’S A PENIS!!

Thanks very much, however striking a pose AND taking a picture of myself nude in the mirror AND making the tattoo visible all at the same time is more than one person can do, I think.
