It’s a reference to Mallrats by Kevin Smith. Guy spends all day long in a mall staring at one of those 3D pictures that, at first, just lloks like a bunch of blobs (kinda like your shirt.) Every other person in the mall walks up, glances at the picture for a second, and recognizes immediately that it’s of a sailboat (a schooner!) but the poor sap can never see it.
