Plus, I’m having existential doubt on one of us being the evil twin. On the current global scale I’m not sure we can qualify. We may have to settle for “sauntered vaguely downwards” twin.

Ah, thanks. I imagine it would be really fun to get all the photographers together to shoot an event like a festival or some cool space to see all the different perspectives everyone would come up with. I bet we’d have a blast.
I have met @dogbutler. You’re right to want to do that.
I want to meet the large contingent of Doper’s with great culinary skills (@pulykamell and @solost among them and in this thread), especially the smokers and bakers.
Ideally at a venue where they can be forc… persuaded to prepare their specialties for us. I will then also pick various brains and steal recipes even if they are to be guarded unto death.
A week should be enough glutto… research and conviviality! And those Doper’s in the know on quality alcohol will also be invited to share their stocks and skills!

I’ve only had the chance to meet a few Dopers in-person: @pulykamell and the now-inactive @WordMan , for drinks at a local hotel maybe 15 years ago, @Qadgop_the_Mercotan for lunch a year or two ago (we need to do that again one of these days!), and @penultima_thule during his U.S. driving tour.
I don’t feel the need to name more names, but if we’ve interacted regularly (and positively) in the past, you’re likely to be someone I’d enjoy meeting.
@dogbutler I would like to meet. I think we’re on a similar wavelength.

I did meet @penultima_thule and @thorny_locust a couple years ago during Penultima’s tour of the US. Was a very nice afternoon.

I remember that! That was a good time.
I’ve met a few others in person. The most random one was @Gundy. I had moved back to the US and I got a temp job at accounts receivable at a window company, and I overheard her talking on the phone in the cubicle next to me about a party for some nerdy message board and I peeked over her cubicle and said: “Excuse me, I couldn’t help but overhear. Were you by any chance talking about the Straight Dope Message Board?” She looked at me blankly, paused, and said “what’s your screen name?” What were the odds?
I’m still waiting to meet @Qadgop_the_Mercotan. We’ve had a near miss or two, and I hope one day on my trips to Wisconsin we’ll finally make it happen (hopefully at that pizza place!)
