Dream Harry Potter casting

Since the release of “Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban” has sucked me into the Potterverse, I’ve been thinking about future movie casting. Granted, I had never dreamed of casting Gary Oldman for Sirius (I though Daniel Day Lewis would have been excellent). Anyone else want to play?

New characters in “Goblet of Fire”:
Rita Skeeter – either Jennifer Saunders or Helena Bonham Carter.
Ludo Bagman – Sean Bean.
Viktor Krum – ??
Fleur de la Coeur – I’ve heard a rumor that Kate Winslet is up for this role.
Bill Weasley – If they go the Kate route, Ewan McGregor could fit this role.
Charlie Weasley – I don’t think they’d bother having both older Weasley brothers.
Madame Maxime – ??
Karkarov – Anthony Hopkins (to be cool for his grandkids).
Barty Crouch - ???
Barty Crouch Jr. - Christopher Eccleston
Mad Eye Moody – already cast. Played by this guy: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0322407/ Totally not how I pictured the character.

New characters in “The Order of the Phoenix”
Tonks – I thought the actress who played Scarlett in “Four Weddings and a Funeral” would have been perfection – but she’s dead. How about the chick who plays Bubbles in “Absolutely Fabulous”?
Kingsley - ??
Bellatrix Lestrange – Helena Bonham Carter (if she doesn’t play Rita).
Umbridge – Dame Judi Dench

I’m trying to figure out a way to cast Colin Firth. Sigh…

Me neither, but he’s a great actor none the less.
I can’t see Kate Winslet as Fleur. It needs to be someone more… well… beautiful.

How about Gywneth Paltrow?

BTW, bear in mind that Gleeson will be under a lot of makeup as Mad Eye - I reckon he won’t look like his pub. photo.

I always saw Michael Gough as “Mad Eye” Moody. Seeing him in the movie Sleepy Hollow was what gave me the idea.

I figure that by the time the seventh movie is done filming, almost every well known living British actor/actress will have been in the movies somewhere. I would love to see Derek Jacobi in one of the movies, although I’m not sure which character I’d have him be. Or Malcolm McDowell. He’s a good actor who takes almost any movie role, why hasn’t he been in any of the movies?

AmericanMaid: Not sure if I’d have Anthony Hopkins as Karkarov, although he does do a good Russian/Eastern accent (he doesn’t have grandkids by the way). I always imagined Karkarov to be around the same age as Snape. I always imagined a young Hopkins as Remus Lupin, but of course that’s impossible.

How about Timothy Dalton as Karkarov? Same age as Rickman.

Ugh, Gwynnie trying to play a 18 year old would be beyond ridiculous! Plus, I think she’s all hype. Kate is younger, more talented and quite beautiful. I’m sadly lacking in knowledge of teen British or French actors. Hmm… I wonder if there’s a way to get Johnny Depp in the movie. Maybe Karkarov?

There’s only three years between them. And Winslet’s 29 years old - what would make her more able to play an 18-year-old?

Okay, let me think of someone else… Cate Blanchett?

Lindsey Lohan?

What about Leelee Sobieski for Fleur? Though being a kid herself, I’m sure it’ll be played by another currently unknown actor. Though Viktor Krum may be played by a well-known actor.

I could definitely see Keira Knightley as Fleur. Right age, right level of prettiness.

You know the front cover of “The Truth”, Discworld? That slouching robed character (I think it’s de-worde) that’s EXACTLY how I pictured Moody.

Good call. Although I think Knightley needs to put on some weight. (and some boobs. I imagined Fleur as having nice boobs)

I would rather see Kate Winslet playing Tonks!

Yeah you’re right dantheman. I was blinded by the Gwyneth-hate. How about Tim Roth as Karkarov? He was originally supposed to be Snape but he opted for “Planet of the Apes” (fool). I don’t think going with an unkown for Fleur will be a good idea. They’re already going with an unkown for Cho: http://www.anycities.com/harrypotter/Cho.html
Keira would definitely be able to convey the veela vibe just because she’s a “name” actress.

She would be REALLY nice… but she’d have to be able to put on a good French accent ;).

Ooops… ‘She’ refers to Knightly.

First off, Brendan Gleeson is currently one of my favorite character actors, and I think he’ll do well with Mad Eye Moody.

I nominate Goran Visnjic for Karkarov.

How about Audrey Tautou for Fleur? She’s cute, she’s French, and she’s a good actress. I like Keira Knightley for Tonks - I think she’d be good at a part with that much frivolity. Rowan Atkinson for Ludo Bagman, since he’s a bit of an over-the-top character. Michael Palin for Crouch Sr. - you want someone who looks like he’s a bit haunted and very twitchy.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t Fleur 18 (or younger) in the book? Gwyneth is too old, and Tautou is definately too old.

Madame Maxine has been cast also

Cant say Ive ever ever heard of her, but maybe thats not a bad thing.

For Cho Chang I picture this actress, but since Canadians are nearly as bad as we Americans, she’d never get the part :frowning:

But it’s no fun to eliminate people because the director didn’t like the side of the ocean they live on, so…

Ritta Sketter - Parker Posey
Barty Crouch Jr -at the time he was arrested- Vincent Kartheiser
Barty Crouch Jr- now- Norman Reedus
Fleur de la Coeur - Evan Rachel Wood (Kate W is over a decade too old for the part, hope she doesn’t get it!)
Tonks - maybe Ashley Johnson, but there’s an actress who name escapes me I’d like better. oh! I was thinking of Azura Skye, when she had darker hair. It could be darker again :stuck_out_tongue:
Bill Weasley– Michael Rapaport
Charlie Weasley - Shawn Hatosy
