Really? I thought this was one of the ugliest years in memory. So much beige and taupe and tan and…where were the colors, people? And way too much of the one shoulder thing with ridiculously big mermaid skirts. Here’s the thing, one shoulder can be very pretty without being slutty; I like that. But when it’s literally overweighted with a bunch of fabric down there by the floor, it just looks like it’s falling off! One shoulder gowns work if they’re wispy and light or drape or puddle around the feet gently. There was nothing gentle about the creations this year.
Too many mermaid skirts, too many layers of tulle, too much sloppy ruching and too many ass-bows that migrated up from the ass to cling to waists or shoulders. I really hope the Oscars are better.
I thought Cameron Diaz looked like crap, like she didn’t even bother to run a comb through her hair. Then I heard that she and Drew Barrymore got ready together and it all made sense. I picture them taking bong hits while doing each other’s makeup.
I thought it made her look waaaay older then she actually is. I’d expect that look on some old broad like Angie Dickenson or Cathy Lee Gifford.
I don’t think the goal of a hairstyle on women is to make you look older unless you’re a 15 year-old trying to pass for 17.
She should stick to young, cute, contemporary looks. They fit her personality much better.
I can’t believe I’m the first to mention that in the thread title “Drew Barrymore’s Golden Globes Look: Fug or Fab?” I originally took the word “Look” to be a verb…
That was my main problem with her look, it made her look like she was around 50 yrs old. I think if the dress had been a different color it would have worked better. It washed her out and seemed to make her hair look gray. And the goofy grin she had all night gave it an additional creepiness factor.
OK, so I took a look through some GG pics… Good Lawd, I missed a lot. The majority of the “big” names looked elegant and lovely. The rest… what happened. How did I not see Cameron Diaz, she did look like hell! And am I the only person on the planet that thinks Renee Zellweger and Anne Hathaway are just flat out ugly? What the heck were they wearing?! Did I sleep through the entire show!?
Drew was defiantly one of the most elegant and lovely of those attending. I think that with her personality, her charm, and her natural beauty would make her shine in a garbage bag though.
I loved her look … and I think Angie Dickinson is hot. Sure, the hair is large but she’s not going grocery shopping. At an event like the Golden Globes, I am expecting to see the more styled coiffures that would be completely impractical for the real world.
I think the Rungay boys meant the Angie Dickinson comparison as a compliment. I don’t think they mean she looked like Angie Dickinson now… more AD circa Police Woman, which is when she looked seriously hot. Not that she doesn’t look good now, but I doubt Drew Barrymore wants to look like a 78 year old woman. Unfortunately, that hairstyle, done poorly, does age you.
I am not big on the hair. But, I think the dress (and her) look awesome.
I don’t care for that GoFug yourself site. I mean, sometimes things are screaming to be made fun of. And, that’s fine. But, it seems to me, that they go out of their way to find things wrong when really nothing is there.
I thought the trumpetness of the skirt was overdone, but I understand they were going for a stronger more couture look. If the overskirt had followed the lines of the underskirt I’d love it. The hair was pretty darn bad, with Cameron Diaz’s taking the cake.
