I don’t ordinarily find Ms. Barrymore especially attractive. But in the dress from the link, she’s quite a cutie. So I’ll aver that the PR guys are being catty.
I’ve never found Drew to be sexy-- cute, yes, but never sexy. And everytime she (or her hair and makeup people) tried to “sexy” her up, she just looked frickin’ silly.
Her look at the GGs, however, is the first time I’ve ever thought she looked sexy, and did not make her look the least bit silly. In my eyes, the hair and dress worked very well for her.
I think she looks great, and i really don’t like Drew Barrymore very much.

I’m not a fan of her acting, but I think she looks pretty good. The hair doesn’t bother me at all.
I’m not a fan of skirts that poof way out, but the one in the OP is tolerable.
I thought the dress was just lovely. I’ve never seen her hair done up before and while I liked this change, it was a bit Socialite-looking. Needed a slight de-poufing.
I didn’t think she could clean up that well.

I’m just glad she decided to PICK a hair color. If ever a woman was in need of a visit to the colorist, it was Drew. Blonde? Brunette? Dear lord, woman, just CHOOSE.
I agree. What bugs me is her Cover Girl campaign for a makeup that is supposed to look like it’s not even there, and she looks so incredibly made up and unnatural:
The second picture suggests her hair is a bit askew. In principle it’s a daring style but it does look messy in the second shot, with a lot of sraggly hairs sticking out the top. A comb and a mirror would have fixed that.
The dress looks sensational. When you’ve got a body that smokin’, show off the curves.

I think her dress is a pretty color, but agree that it may not have been the best choice for Ms. Barrymore – kind of washes her out. Not a major problem, but not ideal either.
Looks like even Fug thought her dress was “rather interesting and kind of pretty on the whole”, and was only horrified by her hair. I don’t think she looks like a bag lady or anything, but she’d have benefited a lot by a bit more combing.
Her retro hairdo’s a bit big for her head. Her eye makeup seems a little dark, and with the bags under her eyes, she’s just a tad creepy. If her eyes were lightened up, that would help.
They’re on the small side, but I’m still very much in favor of them. 
I love love love Drew Barrymore. But my god, she hardly ever has a hairstyle that doesn’t make me cringe.
Regardless, she’s still incredibly beautiful and ZOMG sexy. Though, once again, the hair has got to go.
I thought she looked great. And my first thought was, that she was channeling Marylin Monroe, or Angie Dickinson. I see I am not alone, in that thought.
the boobs have been surgically reduced, BTW, and they looked fine to me. I would love to be as “fugly” as Drew any day.
