DST in the MMP

I once worked with a woman whose last name was Tuttle, and she was a total pain in the ass!

(And wetone I recently re-watched that M*A*S*H episode… :joy: )

Not really. You’re better off sticking to your local one-off diners.

That’s not to say they’re not good. They’re all right. But on the weekend we drove an hour to Shawn O’Donnell’s Farmhouse Restaurant for breakfast rather than going to a Denny’s, which we’ve often done when we want breakfast out.

I haven’t been to a Denny’s since about 1999. Terrible breakfast: undercooked bacon and overcooked eggs, with everything sitting in a puddle of grease. The server dropped in on the table and I never saw her again, even for a coffee refill. When I went to pay the bill I complained about the food and the service and just got a shrug. No tip for you!

But it still shows the correct time at least once a day

Is okay. I stole it somewhere myself.

Sorry about Whisper. I saw it on the book of faces.

I’ve never had a Denny’s breakfast like that. Worst thing, sometimes it’s not very hot.

My wife said she smelled gas. (She said she smelled it last night too.) That’s a sure sign the tank is getting low. I checked the gauge, and it’s completely empty. I guess that’s why it’s cooling off in here. She said, ‘Maybe that’s why I’ve had a headache yesterday and today.’ I really hate lighting the pilot.

You mean you’re a pilot who doesn’t like going out and getting lit?

Kids have been returned to their mom, we’ve eaten, and chillage is the order of the evening. Amazingly, I was able to make a batch of gołumbki while watching Tobias. It was actually a good way to do it - the rice and onions had plenty of time to cool before I mixed everything together. It’ll be tomorrow’s supper because it’s always better the next day.

I hear my recliner calling…

Hmmm. Good info. I regularly experience what FCM did last night. Last night was almost the worst. I fell asleep shortly before 1am then woke up at 3:45. Yuck. I read my mini Ipad and/or my Iphone for an hour or so. Tried to fall back to sleep; couldn’t so I resorted to praying. I think I fell asleep close to 6am and woke up around 7:30ish. Slingshotted myself out of bed and into the day. After purtifying self, hand washed dishes then met my sis for St. Paddy’s luncheon being held at the local college culinary program. Stuffed self on delectable foods. Then home for a brief while until I drove Hubs downtown (well to the New Center) for his upper leg ultrasound. Not sure what dinner will be; I’m still stuffed from the luncheon (corned beef, shepherd’s pie, salmon, mashed taters w some kind of green leaves within, cabbage, a medley of carrots, parsnips and pearl onion, creamy seafood soup, salad, fruit salad; soda bread with currants). I did not have any dessert (Lent) but my sis had 5 different desserts. I don’t know where she put it all, perhaps wooden leg.

Big huge THANK YOU to red and shoe for bringing up tree pollen. With red being in the Nashville area I didn’t think anything of it but when shoe said the trees in western MI were emitting pollen, I had typed: “not so in Metro Detroit” but erased it when it dawned on me that the earache I’ve had since Sunday evening and slight sore throat, just on the side, was most likely due to tree pollen and not a cold virus or some other sort of germ as I had thought; I couldn’t understand how I could have gotten a germ of some sort as I religiously wear a mask anytime I am out amongst people and very frequently wash my hands and social distance as much as possible due to Hubs health issues. Normally, the tree pollen issue hits in May and sometimes in June and this is only mid March. But then I realized that with the weird weather we’ve been having that the trees have been fooled and have been getting frisky much sooner than normal. I’ve been wearing a mask in the house for the past 2 days soas not to emit any bad germs. So, I took a 12 hr Sudafed as I went to bed and the pain went away.

If you took a 12 hour Sudafed and then had the interrupted, truncated night of sleep, the Sudafed may have been the reason. It is notorious for causing sleep disruption. And of course, the older we are the easier it is to muck up our sleep-it doesn’t take much.

Thanks BBB, I did not know this. Will take in the am then instead.

I like getting lit! But the furnace is a PITA. As it turns out, there was enough gas to keep the pilot light on, even if there wasn’t enough to run the heater.

Mrs. L.A. is very impressed with her new L.L. Bean jacket. She used to sew uniforms, and she said they did a good job.

JtC, we didn’t get a lot of cold cereal when I was a kid, but I do remember an Archie’s record on the back of one of the boxes. My grandparents ate Post Toasties for breakfast most mornings and I remember that they’d save the little cars that came in the box to bring to us kids when they would come home from wintering in Florida.

That was a good thing that you did for the man checking out the dumpster shoe. Food waste is a terrible thing when there are people going hungry.

cat glove, for night time allergy meds, benedryl tends to be my go to. I use it for anything that itches (think throat, eyes and ears) too. It provides enough relief to go to sleep.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’ve been sinusy today as well. Doesn’t seem to bother OYKW. How dare he not suffer along with me! I’m goin’ to bed with Ben tonight. That’ll show him!

I got food poisonin’ from an IHOP in the mid eighties. To this day I call IHOP the International House Of Puke. I would still eat at an IHOP (not the food poision one, however) on occasion even after that. I haven’t eaten at one in probably close to fifteen years. No big reason for that except it just does not occur to us to go to one.

Hello, everyone. Today was shot day. No cranky people on the bus, and I got 7 miles of walking in. I’m now sitting with my feet up. I need to start laundry.

True confessions: I’ve never been to a Waffle House. If I ever go, it’d be at 3 a.m., as I understand when the Olympic Chair-Throwing starts. I used to like IHOP way back in the day, but the last time I went, it seemed pretty meh.

flyboy, sorry about your aunt. 96 is a good, long life, but I’m sure that doesn’t mean you’ll miss her any less.

BooFae, fingers crossed for Whisper, and FCM, hope Taz is comfortably around for a good while yet.

Misnomer, I haven’t even SEEN a record player in a years. It’d be so cool to play one again!

Personally, I’ve never used “woohoo” and “colonoscopy” in the same sentence, but I admire your enthusiasm!

Wheelz, yay on your Covid-free status!

So you et tu?

That’s when I take mine when I need to battle the pollen allergy wars. I make sure to not take a 12 hour one later then noon. If needed later than that I use the little red 4-6 hour ones and try to do that no later than 6pm. I’d be lost without Sudafed in the spring and fall allergy seasons.

My main objection to IHOP and Bob Evans is that neither serve Coke products.

I think it’s early bedtime time.

Napped. Having a martini. dinner tonight is Teriyaki stirfry with asparagus and 'shrooms.

Senator: “Brutus, can you stop Julius’ tyranny?”
Brutus: “Well, I’ll take a stab at it!”

Becky going full Matrix on an unruly customer:

I have a USB one.

Last time I went to an IHOP, this girl and two guys got into a screaming match, and got kicked out. As the manager was leading them away, guy in the back yells out: “Y’ALL CALM DOWN, THIS AIN’T THE WAFFLE HOUSE!”

Evening all. I went to the gym for swimming but the pool was closed until 3pm, so I did a little shopping and came on home to watch soccer. I forgot my belt and darn if my new jeans aren’t slipping off my hips now (went from a 46" waist to a 44" a couple months ago). This weight loss thing keeps up I may have to start looking for 42" waists or else start picking up Utz Cheese balls to snack on…

Quite day, supposed to be cool tomorrow morning but get up to near 70F then rain for Firday, so I’ll plan on that being laundry day.

Last Denny’s I was at was on my trip in February in Miami, it was the only thing close to the hotel I was staying in. Food and service were adequate, but the place was virtually deserted. Haven’t been to IHOP in quite awhile and don’t frequent Waffle House as I like fries with my burgers and they have hash browns only. Such is taste.

Flyboy, glad the missus likes her jacket; a good jacket is a very good thing to have, IMHO, my old beat-up London Fog jacket lasted nearly 25 years and now I’ve started with a Northern Face one I got last year and wear as much as possible. Hope you get gas soon…

boo fae, like Bumba also saw the note about Whisper on Facebook, my condolences.

Ah, someone else who holds long-term grudges. Alamo Rent-a-car and Applebee’s are both on my ‘they’ll never see another dime from me’ list.

Cookie, just like wet one, when I saw the name Tuttle I flashed back to the MASH*
episode; great minds and all that, I guess… Hope he is real and just as competent as his patients say.

Oopsie, hope tonight’s Jazz is all that you expect. Haven’t seen a real record player in probably 30+ years.

I don’t think those words are supposed to go together. Still, probably in my future too once the Doc sees me in May.

OK, it’s after 7pm and I have a 8oz hamburger just waiting to be cooked, so all y’all take care.

Bob Evans, yum. Never been to a Waffle House I don’t think.
