I thought what I’d said made it clear I understood that. if not, that was my intention anyway.
I’ve never personally met him, I’d think the odds on that ever happening to be fairly slim. but he seems as down to earth as anyones best neighbor and a good guy to know for those in his circle. between his lineage and the fact he’s royalty here (for good reason), his estate seems appropriate.
My housemates have their own stash, as they prefer the extra soft high-linty type; I hate that kind. I’m a Scott-tissue person, myself. I like cheap, smooth paper that doesn’t fall apart in my hand and leaves no trace of itself . . .err . . . behind.
So I buy it when it’s on sale, usually two 20-packs for about $11 each. I currently have about 28 rolls on hand. AIUI they also have a couple of big packs upstairs. So the three of us could last a good while.
The minimum I get down is about 12. I have a dispenser for extra toilet rolls on the back of the bathroom door, always kept stocked with twelve from the stock I keep on top of my bedroom wardrobe. I get a 48 pack delivered every couple of months, partly because it is cheaper, and partly because it’s just more convenient to get a large pack delivered and always know I have some in. By accident we have two 48 packs in right now plus still another ten on the bathroom door.
But then I’ve always overstocked on essentials like tins and packet food, mainly because being self-employed has meant that in past I’ve occasionally had spells with no income, so when I do have income I make sure I can live through times when I don’t - the seven years of abundance, seven years of famine principle. It’s definitely worked out to my advantage now.
I live alone. One twelve pack of 1000 sheet/roll stuff (whatever’s cheapest per square foot) lasts me about five months. I refill when I’m down to the last roll other than the one on the holder.
They say using cheap toilet paper is like playing the guitar. It’s easier when the calluses build up.
They sell something that’s sort of a cross between tissue and toilet paper here. Here is a picture and it’s used for both purposes. For those not clicking on the picture, it’s like tissue but sold in plastic bag instead of a paper box. They are sold in large bags of 12 individual bags. We usually buy two bags so 24 individual bags. Then it gets low, we replace them. Taiwan went through it’s TP scare earlier and now is fine, but we are keeping a little extra as well as some more food than normal.
We tend to buy as needed. If we have more than one full pack it’s usually because we didn’t really know how much we had left when we were in the store.
Psst, everyone: Beck is not at home to defend her stash!!!
We’ll typically have a spare package (4ish rolls) per bathroom. So that’s 12 rolls (2 upstairs bathrooms + a powder room). Plus one or two spares from the previous package.
I usually buy a 24-pack at a time, replacing it when I’m into the last sub-packaged 6-pack. I couldn’t buy more if I wanted to; I live in a relatively small apartment and only have so much space under the counter of the one bathroom I use.
I also don’t worry about sales, mostly because I never worry about sales. Plus I only go through one guy’s worth of TP, so whatever.
Normally I buy Costco’s house brand 30-pack of double-ply, double-size rolls. I usually buy when I am down to fewer than 6 rolls, and I have space for 36 in the large bathroom cupboard, so that works out pretty well. That usually lasts me for months, mostly because I have a Washlet bidet on my toilet.
Fortunately I went to Costco a couple of months ago so I still have plenty left.
Heh. I have to talk in low tones when I’m in my apartment talking on the phone about how I have a whole 20 rolls which should do me for the foreseeable future.
We buy the brick of 30 rolls at Costco, mainly so we don’t have to shop as often. Just so happens that we had purchased one of these just before the shit hit the fan. So to speak.
Jumbo rolls in packs of 9 or 18 for a total of 45 rolls fit conveniently on top of a cabinet that’s otherwise unused space. Since I live alone that easily would last for months.
Really depends on where I buy it. If I order bulk, then 30+ rolls. If I’m just buying it as regular groceries, anywhere from probably 9-12, unless of course you cannot get it, and are down to 2 rolls. In that case, your very good friend who has a case, sends a half dozen your way. That was my life last weekend.
Family of 4 and I rarely have more than 12 rolls or the equivalent. it’s typically something that is easily available and cheap and not really worth buying too much in bulk IMHO. of course you could say that about anything until something like this happens and it isn’t, but in that case you might as well stockpile EVERYTHING (which is feasible for almost no one) because there’s nothing particular about toilet paper that would predict its scarcity.
As an adult man with regular bowel movements, I don’t particularly need toilet paper if I’m at home. I have running water and working shower which I pay for and a variety of cloths. Also, I’ve been buying flushable wet toilet tissue for at least 15 years and prefer that if available. I WAS able to find several packs of that at Walmart in the middle of the day yesterday. I understand women and children have different needs.
It’s not but there have been a few times in my life (I’ve mostly been a “low wage hourly worker” in restaurant/retail) when the $1 pack at Dollar Tree or the 88 cents pack of 4 tiny rolls at Walmart was my only option. If I only I could afford the $3.99 packs of 12 normal rolls.
Now, I like sales but I don’t really stock up, because I’ve found I waste more money that way. A YMMV thing, IMHO.
At most two packages, which would be anywhere from 12-24 big rolls.
I am very surprised at how long we were able to make the current pack last, to the point that we’ve not even opened the giant pack I wound up being able to buy online. (It was out of stock, but the site didn’t say that, so I got it later than expected).
