In the last several days or in the last week, I have stopped receiving email notifications for watched threads and when people quote me. I couldn’t have (intentionally) turned them off, since I had to do some searching to even find my email address. (Incidentally, I added a new one and made it the primary.) What happened?
I just received an update email for a quote, so it’s not system wide. Was is turned off or did your email service flag it as spam?
I have no idea how I could have turned it off. Nothing in my spam folder(s). When I opened SDMB this morning, I had three notifications on my avatar; but nothing in my emails.
To determine or change your Email preferences :
- Click on your Avatar next to the Menu. (Upper Right Corner)
- Select Profile (The last symbol on the right)
- Select Preferences again
(The gear symbol) - Click on
Emails - There are 4 dropdowns, set these as you wish.
Save Changes
I only got to bullet point 3 before. I’ve completed the list. We’ll see what happens.
Discourse gets updated automatically at least monthly and leads to lots of unexpected changes. So it may have been the July update.
Minor one for me was the hamburger menu having a minor change and the link for flags to Review has moved since the major menu change over a year ago.
I hate it when they change stuff! I did receive notification of your reply in my (new) email.

There’s an apparent trend in software these days that I find very annoying. From my POV, there seems to be a dogma among developers that if something is working well and the users like it, it MUST be changed ASAP.
