Earliest/latest sitcom set in each US state

The Wet Hot American Summer movie had 2 sequel series, those were set in Maine.

In 1989 Doctor, Doctor became the first sitcom set in Rhode Island.

Martin was also set in Detroit, but came on in 1992. Just missed.

Joe’s World debuted in 1978 and was also set in Michigan.

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, 1968-70, Maine

Mary Kay and Johnny from 1947 was the first American sitcom and it was set in NYC:

And there’s about a billion New York set comedies post-Seinfeld.

We really need an updated chart down here.

Hot l Baltimore, 1975 - Maryland

This is in reference to the Connecticut episodes of I Love Lucy.

If you’re willing to count the continuation, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, that aired until 1960. Although it was a series of occasionally airing hour-long specials, not a weekly half-hour show, so maybe it doesn’t qualify.

True Colors, 1990-92, Baltimore, MD

The Real McCoys, 1957-1963 - West Virginia

Although the family is from West Virginia the show is set in California.

Not just post. Amos ‘n’ Andy, Car 54, Where Are You?, Family Affair, That Girl, and The Odd Couple immediately come to mind.

Well obviously. But he has Seinfeld from 1998 listed as most recent.

I don’t watch many sitcoms nowadays. Which are some more recent ones set in NYC?

Not NYC proper, but I believe that Ghosts, which currently runs on CBS, is set in upstate New York.

On Leave it to Beaver they don’t specify where Mayfield is, but in one episode Lumpy goes to the band contest at the State Capitol in Madison, and another they go to a Packers game so may be set in Wisconsin.

Tammy (1965-66) was apparently set in Mississippi, “within sight of Louisiana.”

As does Barney Miller.

Hey if you include US territories you could use
The Flying Nun in San Juan PR 1967-70

Also Ohio, The Drew Carey Show ran from 1995 until 2004

United States of Al is a currently running CBS sitcom set in Ohio.
