Eating from the vending machine part DEUX

I used to have Hostess Dill Pickle chips on a regular basis (in Canada) and as far as I know, they still make them. They are yummy.

I also love:

  • Ketchup chips
  • Sour cream and BACON chips
  • Frito-Lay BBQ chips, because they’re not REALLY bbq, they’re mesquite. At least that’s how they taste to me.

These ones just sound weird. CRorex, you just knew this was going to happen. Admit it!

I do, and them’s fightin’ words.

Onions are vile.

Care to take this up in person?

I love ALL flavors and varieties of potato chips. Of course, that’s not saying much, as I genuinely like those sardine jellybeans that Bertie Botts came up with.

There’s a company named Zapp’s in Louisiana. They make crawdad-flavored chips, and they are superb.

They ship as well. And they might be found in other areas.

Actually, I used to eat them uncooked when I was a kid. They tasted fine.

Dill chips are the only flavored potato chips I can stand, and I love 'em! Here’s a list of chips available on the market.

When my boyfriend and I were at Universal Studios in LA a couple of weeks ago, one of those survey people accosted us and wanted our opinion of a new chip that Lays is currently developing. The chips are Philly Cheesesteak flavored! I don’t know why I found it so humorous but I laughed during the entire encounter! Now that I’ve given it more thought, maybe this isn’t such a strange idea…

What are you, some kind of mayonaisse-on-french-fries-eating-surrender-monkey?

Oh, my dear, I feel we must agree to disagree on this. Here’s the Truth:

  1. Ketchup goes on hot dogs

  2. Mustard goes on hamburgers

  3. Hi, Opal (isn’t that the correct response for #3?)

This thread, along with associated responses, brings to mind a former co-worker who was the most adventurous of the vending machine “test-drivers” - anything new, she was the first to try it.

Invariably, however, she would then say “EEwww, these are GROSS!! D’you want 'em?”

Now, why would I want something you just deemed as GROSS?!? She’d never make it in sales/marketing, that’s for sure.

Now, in the UK they have real crisps (chips)

Pickled Onion Flavour,
Hedgehog Flavour,
Prawn Cocktail Flavour,
Marmite Flavour,
Beef and Horseraddish

Cheers, Bippy

Well rest assured if you leave an open package near me they will be safe.

So very very safe. :: Looks around for a biohazzard bag and the autoclave tape ::

As long as there are onion rings involved I’m game!

(Caps are mine)

What in Og’s name does a HEDGEHOG taste like??? And how do they KNOW that ???

(What’s Marmite?)

Maybe they’re supposed to be eaten with clam dip?

Wimp. When I was a kid, I used to eat them frozen!

Dear god my stomach now churns at the mere thought. What was my mother thinking.

Would the chips sell just as well advertised as “Slaughterhouse floor flavored”? NOW WITH EYEBALLS!

clam dip IS sour cream and clams.

Glad you asked about Hedgehog crisps, when they first came out they were flavoured like real hedgehogs. The company making them got together some travelling folk who traditionally would cook and eat hedgehogs and had them approve and adjust the flavour. I had some of the crisps in those days, they were not unlike strong bakon in flavour, a bit gamey for most tastes but nice.
Unfortunately there was an outcry against the idea, and so the crisps you get now are actually flavoured hedge-herbs and hog (pork) flavour, but are still called hedgehog crisps. The new flavour isn’t as nice as the original as far as I am conserned, as it now tastes too much of mixed herb.

This is all from watching “Nationwide” in the 80’s and reading bits in news papers, so I cannot say for sure the above is correct. But the taste did deffinately change after the first year of release, and they were originally meant to taste of actual hedgehog.
Cheers, Bippy

Exactly.
I like onion dip with sour cream & onion chips. Calm dip with sour cream & clam chips might be pretty good. Of course, I also like clam dip with dill chips.

It’s also very soothing.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
