I had seen some ads on BBCAmerica for “Dressed to Kill” coming up Sunday (3/12) but hadn’t seen ads for this “special”. Just came across it channel surfing.
Meh.
I love his standup. “Dressed to Kill” is great. But this isn’t anything.
He has only one good line in the whole thing and it really isn’t all that original.
I want to live 'til I die, no more, no less.
The blonde PR girl is much funnier.
Here’s some more info on upcoming shows and times. “Circle” sounds like it could be good but it apparently overlaps “Dressed to Kill” some.
The Sam Goody/Musicland in a local mall is shutting down, and everything’s half off. Browsing the racks last weekend, they had all four of Eddie’s DVDs. I’m amazed that they were carrying them at all. 38 bucks later, I own them all! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!
I’ve only watched Dress to Kill, but it had more footage than was aired on HBO. It’s nearly three hours long.
“Lust for Glorious” isn’t “Glorius” it is just a 40 minute ‘documentery’ that seems to be similar to the quick scene setting skits at the start of one of his stand up dvds.
In fact it is the ‘documentory’ found on the Glorius DVD. Fun but not very funny. Still better than the ‘docuentory’ about San Francisco on another of his DVDs.
“Lust for Glorious” was totally different than his stand up, but I found it hilarious in its own way.
It was an often very subtle satire of American marketing, especially when “media blitzing” a foreign celebrity. It’s the normalcy and eagerness with which Eddie was trying to go along with the event that had me in tears.
My favorite was the subtle way in which his “growing up in France” became steadily more ludicrous. e.g. standing in front of a medieval street and cathedral saying “Things have changed…when I lived here as a child, all of this was farmlands…”
