I am a donut
Also…
I seriously love both of you. Eddie cracks me up. Oh, and I love his site.
I happened to see one of his shows on TV, and I never laughed so much… Dressed to Kill.
He is the smartest and funniest comedian.
I do not know all his shows, (only saw the one stated above), which one should I see??
AARRGH!
Ok, now you’ve done it. My old roomie and I watched “Dress to Kill” so many times that we can quote almost the whole thing. Now, all day long I’m going to be saying “Ciao” and putting babies on spikes around town. ::imitates Italian scooter noise::
Carine, “Dress to Kill” is the best, but “Glorious” is really good too. You just can’t go wrong with Eddie Izzard, unless it’s watching “Shadow of the Vampire”. Gah! I fell asleep. That movie was horrible, IMHO.
I think my favorite part in that show is about the cake or death. I’ve had it in my sig forever, just never bothered to use it.
Ha ha! A chance to finally use my sig!
Oh, Skerri, don’t you love when you find reasons to use your sig? And have you seen “Velvet Goldmine”? He was in that. Good. (And it had Placebo in it too. Yay!) Oh, and he was in “Mystery Men”. That one I tried to watch but it was too awful. Great cast, awful script. “Shadow of the Vampire” was bad, but not as bad as MM. Blech.
dlgirl, I haven’t seen VG yet. But, I did see Mystery Men. (I love love love Ben Stiller and Janeane Garafolo…wish they had gotten back together!) It wasn’t that bad. Eddie is also in “The Avengers”, although briefly.
I am on the Eddie Izzard mailing list, which is fun, because you get to find out when he’s on tour, etc. I almost got to go see him in NYC last year, but my buddy canceled our trip at the last moment. Bwah!
A friend of mine met Eddie at a show in NY a couple of years ago. (Right after “DTK”.) He said he was very funny, very outgoing, and very drunk. (He also met Kurt Loder from MTV, and said he was a complete ass.) They sat and talked for a while, and Eddie bought him a drink. They traded clothing advice, and went their seperate ways. Why can’t these things happen to me??!?
The Definite Article is his best video I think. I have a signed copy. It says:
To Francesca
Le singe est dans l’arbre
Love Eddie Izzard.
I also say him live last year. Ha!
Le souri est sur la table.
Englebert Humperdinck is dead. [Nods. Shakes head. Nods.]
Dress to Kill is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen, and it rewards multiple viewings. As far as I know you can’t buy it. My tape is missing the first few minutes because when I realized it was on one night, I belatedly threw a tape in the VCR…
dlgirl, darling, I love ya, but Mystery Men was a fun movie. I’m not saying it was a brilliant film (the removal of Paul Reubens character would have been wise) but I liked it. Personal preference, I guess…
VADER: “Luke, The Force is strong with you?”
LUKE: “Oh yeah?!? Well how strong?”
VADER: “Uh… as strong as a small pony.”
LUKE: “Oooh, that’s strong, that is.”
hee hee hee
Engelbert Fishtybuns?
I think you can buy DTK on his website… one second…no, only available through the box set. I know you can get copies of it on Ebay. I used to check it daily, but now that I am poor, it’s hard to buy stuff like that.
The box set only comes in the European format for vcrs. I checked with a few places where I live, and they can convert it to VHS, but they claim it’s expensive. Arrgh.
“Cake or death?”
“Cake, please.”
“Well, we’re outta cake!”
“So, my choice is ‘or death’? Well, I’ll have the chicken, then!”
I love Eddie!
My daughter would watch DtK half a dozen times a day if it was up to her.
“Do you have a flag?”
I’d contribute something meaningful to this thread, but I’m too busy putting babies on spikes.
Weeeeellll, I tried to watch it, I really did. I put the DVD in, started to watch it(some of it was funny) but then it got got so disgusting and embarrassing that I had to turn it off. But then I watched “Velvet Goldmine” right after it. That is where he was good. Very good in the drama department. He didn’t wear make-up, though. At least I don’t think so. Oh, and I think he looks good in make-up. And women’s clothing. (Sorry.) But anyway, my babies were in that movie(even heard two of them speak, and Bri sang). Ooooh, they wore make-up. And I cracked up. The make-up was so bad, but it was glam rock. And I almost peed my pants watching Brian running. Oh, god, those platform shoes and feather boa made tears run down my face. Okay, I only saw this movie once, but I might buy it. It was that good (and you can see a lot of nakedness; well, if you are into that stuff. )
Oh, and mrblue, love ya, too. :mwah: [sub]Isn’t this making you sick, guys?:D[/sub]
Oh, I love DtK!! I love all Eddie Izzard really, but DtK is so very excellent.
“Well, I’m not gonna shag me, that’s for certain”
Hehehe.
LC
“What is it, Leftenant Sebastian?”
“It’s the rebels, sir…they’re here.”
“MY GOD MAN! …Do they want tea?”
“I think they’re after something else sir. Not sure what it is, but they’ve got a flag.”
Dress to Kill cracks me up every time I see it! I have GOT to get more of his stand-up stuff.
I saw him on Dennis Miller once, without the makeup and women’s clothes. I thought he looked mighty tasty that way. But He does look good in the makeup.
Eddie is the greatest. Skerri and I had this convo a while ago on some other thread.
[Eddie quotes]
I like my coffee like I like my women. Rich, smooth and…with a spoon in them.
And it is verrrrry difficult to get that into conversation. Monkeys, thin on the ground. Thin in the air. Generally pretty trim.
I love him, he’s one of the funniest comedians ever.
