I am relatively new here and trying to be polite and active.
Am not sure if this is the right place to ask this query…
Is there a way to edit my Username (for ensuring me more privacy)? I want to edit it to a shortened form of my present user name with a few numerals in it.

You can’t change it yourself, but you can ask for it to be changed. (I don’t remember whether a regular Moderator can do it or whether it takes someone with more superpowers than that.)
At least in the past, they’ve been happy to grant one name change, but not multiple changes (without a good reason), so make sure you’ve decided what you want your username to be before you ask for the change.

If you want your user name changed, send me an email at EngineerCompGeek@gmail.com from the email that is on your Straight Dope profile. Make sure to include the exact name that you want to change it to.
