Here is the column to which I refer:

I wanted to mention that in 1982, while I was a freshman in medical school, I remember a really old professor talking about this. He was a robust, rotund, red faced gentleman, with a reputation for having “palmar erythema”. When he lectured our class on biochemistry, he had thinning white hair.
He was a blast and the class loved him, and I remember at the end of a lecture on, I believe protien, or maybe nucleic acids, he told his little anecdote.
He remembered when he was in medical school, which must have been in the '30’s, he was informed that there was a certain amount of protien lost for each ejaculation, and that he and his fellow medical students had taken to eating one egg to compensate for this loss. One egg per “loss” as he pointed out. So I guess great minds were thinking alike, when Cecil came up with his egg analogy. Oh and the medical school was University of Virginia.
