Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

The current estimate is that Biden won by 4-6%. We can’t continue to be a country where a smaller and smaller minority makes the rules for everyone else. That’s how revolutions happen. That’s actually when revolutions are supposed to happen.

Pretty much, as said by @iiandyiii. I can’t believe how much the results have stalled, though. Election night was fun (like watching a sports event – we literally had the popcorn out) but last night was 100% filler on CNN with no real movement. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see the optimism for PA. And I predict a recount in GA regardless of who comes out ahead. But as they said on CBC News just this afternoon, Biden only has to win AZ+NV and/or one of the major battleground states, while Trump pretty much has to win all of them.

Biden only has to win AZ+NV period, though that puts him only just over the top at 270.

EDIT: if you remove the ‘and’ from the and/or, your statement is totally correct.

The Straight Dope: watch PA Secretary of State Boockvar give the numbers during her interview on CNN.

A video I could find on some random site: 'Majority' of Pennsylvania Votes Done Thursday: Kathy Boockvar

About 100k remaining in Philly, 30k in the surrounding counties, I think it was 30-40k in Alleghany, the rest spread across the state.

Right, but then the worry is rat-fuckery at the Electoral College. It only takes one rat-fucker to change the balance.

Very true. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about PA though, so I am optimistic. If Biden holds onto AZ+NV AND pulls PA, that puts him at a comfortable 290. Don’t think trump will be able to bribe 21 electors.

Quote from the PA SoS:

“I think we definitely could” know the result in Pennsylvania by the end of the day today, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar told CNN Thursday.

I thought a hold was put on Allegheny Co. vote counts until tomorrow afternoon due to trump legal team chicanery. Can PA be projected without all those votes?

I think Allegheny is only about 35,000 votes, if I’m remembering right. With the margins Biden’s been getting, he’d be well ahead with the rest of the outstanding ballots.

It’s about 35,000 votes that should skew strongly Biden. If Biden is ahead everywhere else by tonight it will just increase his lead. Allegheny is only vital if it comes down to a Georgia situation where Trump is still holding a razor-thin lead.

I would say a Biden win is 95% maybe 99%.

You just have to look at PA. As per Gogi Gupta’s spreadsheet, Biden needs 61% of the remaining vote to win. Of the 12 updates that he has posted Biden’s lowest share has been 66% and just today there were two with 83%. Perhaps that will change drastically but no one seems to believe that.

If there is some astonishing reversal in PA, Biden has a very solid alternate path through NV/AZ. NV seems all but certain and while my understanding is that AZ is complicated, Biden appears to be in a strong position.

Cool. PA in the Biden column tonight would make for an awfully restful night’s sleep.

So the Georgia SoS says they have about 47,277 ballots remaining as of 3:15ET. At 1:15ET they had 50k. So in 2 hours they processed 3k ballots. At that pace, they will be done in just under 16 hours…

I think we should all just go do something else for awhile.

Who should now be aware that Trump never pays his debts unless sued.

It’s occured to me that either explanation would imply that they expect Nevada’s going for Biden. There’s no way they’re a tipping point if they now say they’re going for Trump.

Of course, we’re also just making up motivations. For all I know, the weather’s great there and expected to storm Saturday and they’ve got other things to do before winter hits. Or, most likely, they’re just very very carefully inspecting each ballot and making sure they get it right.

It’s pretty scary how unwinded the conservative subreddits and message boards are becoming…this is going to get ugly.

Then who’s going to sit at my computer and refresh every five minutes?

I take a small amount of pleasure knowing this process is tormenting Trump even more than me.

I looked at r/conservative when you brought it up yesterday and the mood seemed definitely deflated. Not a lot of fight in them. Seemed more like resignation. Why do you say it will get ugly? Is their rhetorical ire up today?

That must be true. It’s a slow motion fall down a canyon and he can’t stop it.

And now this from GA: “We can’t know how long the process will take,” said Gabriel Sterling, a Georgia election official.

Well, yes we can. You have a number outstanding, you have a processing rate, you do some math. If you want to go faster, you add resources. Why is this so difficult?
