Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

I heard that, andI’m sure his name resonated with older Packer fans. But wouldn’t it have been great if Aaron Rodgers had followed that up with his own endorsement? (or even a “Catch a pass from Aaron” fund-raiser")

What’s he gonna do… send nasty grams to all of them from NY State Penitentiary?

Here’s an interesting but perhaps not surprising bit of data:

“Vote for Biden and I’ll get you the Rodgers rate.”

Probably still believing COVID is just a hoax.

Dumb question I could easily Google: If it’s 50/50, is there still a Majority Leader?

Would be based on which party the VP is. So if it’s Dem, then the Dems have the Majority leader. I guess.

Being within the margin, though, doesn’t mean she “spoiled” or changed the outcome. It’s incredibly difficult to be sure about the effects of a Libertarian candidate on a race. Some people assume that the vast majority of Libertarian voters would otherwise have voted Republican, but exit polls and other investigations of Libertarian voting show that this just isn’t the case, or not always anyway. The Libertarians get more votes from disaffected Democrats than some people want to admit, and, more importantly, a significant number of Libertarian voters simply won’t vote if their only choice is a Democrat or a Republican.

Yup. VP breaks ties in the Senate.

I’m hoping he takes his ball and goes home. In this case his ball is the MAGA voters and going home means staying home on election day. That will scare any politician.

Question. Can the loser of a Presidential election demand a recount for any reason, or is it dependent on state law? Could Trump theoretically say, “I demand a recount in Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania” and the states would have to comply?

“Some”?

How about the whole “Walk-away” movement?

Face it. The old guard of the black community is leaving and a younger crowd is coming in and they are not going to vote democrat 90% anymore. Its the same with hispanics.

That’s “some.” (and probably very few).

Varies by state, and in some states, if the margin is big enough, even a candidate-requested recount won’t be made. More info on the states that are in question now in this article:

Once they stop walking on Astroturf, I’ll care more about what they’re walking away from.

More broadly here are all the laws for recounts in each of the 50 states:

But really, why start now?

I’m pretty sure this has happened in my lifetime, though I can’t recall the years.

Is that like “men going their own way”?

I know that. But is the leader of the VP’s party called the Majority Leader?

(Not really sure why I care, but I’m sleep-deprived …)
