Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Ahem. Call from whom?

Who are “they,” as well?

Top. Men.

English not your thing?

I will continue to stay on record stating that nothing is going to happen because conservatives are unbelievable cowards. That’s why they carry guns around everywhere. That’s why they hold protests in their cars and boats instead of feet on the street. Most of these paper tigers will dry up and blow away fairly shortly.

That’s one reason I believe to be true. The other reason is that most of these “vicious” conservatives aren’t disenfranchised everymen, they’re petit bourgeousie who have decent jobs and probably own at least one property. They’re cosplayers who can lose things if they get caught breaking the law, so they’re cautious about setting foot outside their boats and monster trucks.

It depends on the certified difference in votes. Wisconsin allows a candidate to pay for a recount if the difference between the winner and second place finisher is less than 1% but greater than 0.25%; below 0.25 a recount is automatic. It appears Wisconsin’s gap will be in the range where Trump could pay for a recount; he’s begging Trumpists for donations to pay for it.

The Michigan auto-recount threshold is based on votes: 2000 votes and under is an automatic recount. A candidate can always ask for a recount and have the request honored if “They have a reasonable chance of winning the election.” The gap in Michigan has actually blown up to three percent, about 150,000 votes, so a request would be shot down.

Georgia never automatically requires a recount; a candidate can request a recount if the spread is less than half a percent. Pretty likely that condition will apply.

Pennsylvania requires a recount under a 0.5% spread. There are rules for county level recounts that are too complex for me to understand.

Nevada has no automatic recount rule or request threshold; a candidate can petition the Secretary of State after the election is certified.

He’s still great for those who understand what the polls are really saying (and which Silver has taken great pains to try to point out but seems to keep getting lost).

Who is saying that?

Who was the call from?

Many people.

I’m not so sure about that. The prominent demonstration of stupidity seems pretty central to Trumpist enthusiasm. If Trump had started advocating for mask-wearing immediately, supported lockdowns, etc., I’m not sure he’d have held on to the same level of support. Hard to be sure, but it seems to me that the response to COVID-19 simply polarized people further.

Trump is no more capable of being serious and competent than he is of running a four minute (or, realistically, a ten minute) mile.

The Trump campaign is notorious for not paying its bills. I wonder if Wisconsin will ask for money up front before they do a recount? /s

“If you count the legal votes, I easily win.”

Donald Trump, opening statement of current press conference.

Chris Jansing was doing a report on MSNBC and she was in Delaware near the Biden residence. People were working on the area where Biden would make an announcement, if he was going to.

I thought she said she’d been told that Biden had received a call from someone congratulating him and adding that there would be a lot of work to do. I’m sorry I posted too quickly in my excitement.

:hangs head in shame:

Trump just started babbling lies about illegal votes.

Who’s giving 45 a media platform for this drivel?

Haha and MSNBC just cut him off after his third sentence. That is greatness!

He’s reading off of notes in addition to babbling? I seriously did not know he could read.

I’m listening to MSNBC on satellite radio, and as has been mentioned, they cut the lying douchebag off to fact check more Republican BULLSHIT.
