Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

The issue was how close they are allowed to stand to the vote counters. One lawsuit was thrown out, one is still pending I believe

Yes, because of COVID, they had some rules about not allowing the watchers to be literally hanging over the shoulder of the counters.

Yes…there are dem and rep observers in all the counting places.

When it comes to disputed ballots a dem and rep poll worked need to agree on what the intended vote was (which is usually obvious). Disputed ones go in a special box to be dealt with later.

Out of the most morbid of curiosities, anybody got a link to Trump’s tired-and-cut-off little speechie? I tried to find on MSNBC and CNN main websites, but apparently I am inept.

Google is too.

I’m sure some of you have similar warm memories of Nixon’s resignation speech dancing like sugarplums in your heads.

Correction, the other was dismissed

One thing Trump repeatedly claimed in his speech tonight was that his campaign representatives were not being given access to observe the vote-counting process and that they’ve had to sue in order to “have people watch.” First of all, the vote-counting process is always bipartisan and campaign observers are allowed to witness it. Second of all, his lawsuits (in Pennsylvania and Michigan) weren’t about being allowed to observe — because, again, they are and have been allowed — they’re about how close those observers able to stand. The lawsuit in Michigan was thrown out, and the Pennsylvania one was dismissed today after both sides agreed to the number of observers each campaign can have in the room.

Trump’s got him tied up. Gonna walk him to the door hostage style if he has to.

Nitpick: counting in UK elections aren’t exclusively done by council employees. I’ve done it a few times as a paid volunteer and I’ve never worked for the council.

Got no argument with a failed getaway in this scenario.

Oh, my dog! I am ded!

I know the long count is frustrating for many, but if it indeed goes Biden, as it is looking, there is some amusement in witnessing this long, long slow death Trump is experiencing right now. This wasn’t a swift, off-with-his/her-head election loss…this was drawn out.

Who’s the dude ranting and raving in Georgia? Call to battle, indeed.

Far-out.

Here’s the whole thing on Youtube.

Or do you mean the cut off version? Can’t help with that, I’d be amused to see it.

I found it on youtube:

and tried to watch it, but gave up.

– whoops, ninja’d; though that’s a different link.

I’d also be curious to see the cutoff version.

According to pa.gov, as of 4:55 PM,

326,348 ballots remaining
84,896 in Philadelphia
35,976 in Allegheny
34,527 in Lehigh
31,970 in Cumberland
25,472 in Bucks
17,028 in Erie
14,392 in Monroe
10,923 in Crawford

ETA: My news sources are currently reporting Mr. Trump’s lead in Pennsylvania at 64,261 votes.

I agree that is an upside to having to wait. But there’s still a part of me that will not rejoice until it’s over.

Interesting, where did you do it? Mine was in a suburb of London, and I understood it was staff at the council offices doing the counting, but ICBW.

I saw the cut off version, Brian Wiliams came in after about 10 seconds saying that once again they had to cut off the President of the United States
