Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

It’s weird how you only hear the word “shenanigans” used in the month of November.

I was reading earlier that one of the lawyers was saying that since so many people left Clark County when the lockdown started, their votes should be removed. If it’s still their legal residence and they went to stay with a parent or other family member, I can’t see a reason that their votes should not be counted.

And now Van Jones is making me teary.

“Why Detroit? Why Philadelphia? It’s race…, and it’s disgusting.” (CNN)

~65K!

I don’t know what the law or evidence is on that so I have no opinion.

Explain this point about not allowing observers in PA, please.

I have been an observer in a few local elections in UK. The actual counting is done by council employees. Representatives of the political parties are allowed to watch to ensure the votes are counted correctly.

Doesn’t this happen in PA? Trump is talking as though the ballot is counted in secret with no observers.

(seems up to date)

You vote wherever you claim legal residence. Not (necessarily) where you spend most of your time.

Australian journos are claiming that a number of US media outlets pulled out of the media conference, leaving just CNN (and maybe one other) to cover the event.

Because I’m a big fucking turtle-eating jackal.

NPR seems to source from the AP.

Right, most media outlets cut Mr. Trump’s speech short.

It does, and a Fox News reporter recently said on live TV (“The Five”) that Republican poll watchers are, were, and have been permitted required access for oversight.

Yes. People everywhere are conspiring to unseat him. Of course, they all voted for him, so he’s actually the winner. But they’re conspiring to unseat him, too.

LOL ha-ha. EPIC!

Yes, they started a couple days ago that’s the only source they’d be using to report

I’ll let an American answer the substance of your question, but it seemed to me that Trump was complaining that “no observers” to Trump means “nobody loyal to me, such as my MAGAt base, very fine people, all of them, were allowed to observe.”

I think they were in the room but not close enough to the poll workers. Earlier this morning the poll workers had to take a short break and rearrange the tables so the observers were closer to the action, to comply with a court order.

I’m glad the media have started calling Trump on his bullshit, don’t get me wrong. But I can’t help but wonder how different the past four years might have been if they had started doing it during the 2016 campaign.

Also, than you to all of you commenting on the press conference so I don’t feel compelled to watch it. It would just end with me throwing heavy objects through the TV.

If anyone sees a written transcript of the press conference, please post here. I simply cannot tolerate the sight or sound of that…thing.

A stunning development:
