Yavapai County, AZ here. I voted early. Hubs who drank the Trump koolaid voted on election day. I sat in the parking lot and watched. I judge people by appearance (wearing a mask or not), and saw that most of the folks in line were not wearing masks. I assumed they were Trumpers. About half of the people who carried green ballot envelopes were not wearing masks.
My BFF has never voted in person before thought she would do it this election. She saw about the same thing where she was.
Stacey Abrams will do her best to make sure it doesn’t happen this way. She’ll have her hands full the next two months, but I think she will do a good job organizing the Democratic vote. In addition I think there is a sizable segment of red voters who came out only because Trump was on the ballot. They may stay home for the runoff.
A friend of mine just shared a video of downtown Philly outside where the vote counting is going on. It’s a giant dance party right now, complete with dancing mailboxes. I was born in Philly, and right now the tears are streaming down my face.
You know where they need to have a giant dance party if PA puts Biden over the top? In front of fucking Independence Hall.
About a 20k reduction in AZ based on late-arriving day-of votes in Maricopa. It’s gonna be pretty damn close there - we’ll see if Fox/AP really knew what they were doing.
AZ misreported the number of ballots yet to be counted. At first they reported c.92% counted (working off memory), then AZ stated an error on their dashboard and reset it to 83%. That was the opportunity for AP and Fox to backpedal but for some reason they doubled down.
I think PA has been more certain than AZ for at least the last 24 hours but nobody wants to call PA for one candidate while the other candidate is in the lead. As soon as Biden overtakes they will call it.
CNN has taken the gloves off after four years of trying to play by the rules. They are throwing all kinds of shade at Trump, slamming his attacks on the votes and scorning them as anti-democratic, infuriating, baseless, etc. I would bet they’re enjoying this immensely.
