4000 votes from very red Mohave County in AZ that ran 80% Trump (reducing Biden’s lead by 2477). That one stings.
Ok, here we go.
Republicans have asked SCOTUS to halt the count of those late-cast ballots in Pennsylvania, same as they did before the election. The ballots are already segregated and have been counted. No one knows how many of those ballots there are. May or may not make a difference. According to elections officials is that the number of those ballots is quite small.
There is no need for this, please tone it down. Thanks, no warning.

Yes, agreed. But if, as you say, it’s essentially impossible for Trump to win in PA and NV, then we’re waiting for some kind of deadline. There are states that count ballots until Nov. 12. If we’re waiting for them to be counted, we’ll be waiting for not this Monday, but possibly the following Monday.
I agree. But I also think this is a very good reason to wait to call it for PA.
Here we go. Republicans asking Secretary of State to go to Supreme Court and ask that ballots received after Tuesday in PA not be counted. Being reported live on MSNBC right now. The number of those ballots are not known, but are likely small.
Not sure why SOS has to do this

There are also 100,000 provisional ballots and, while in a normal year they’d be Democrat-friendly, this year they’re favoring Trump (he used the example of people who requested an absentee ballot but decided to vote in person because the president told them the mail was bad).
My understanding is that over half of these are still from Philly and Pittsburgh, so “favoring Trump” may mean “less than 80% for Biden, more like 60%” for the majority of them. And this includes people who mailed their vote and didn’t know if it made it in time, so if their mail ballots were already counted they will be checked off and not counted. I think it makes a difference for whether Biden clears the automatic recount margin (lead <0.5%).

If Dems are cheating why did Collins, Graham, and McConnell win easily?
Perhaps because cheating is “conservative”?
I.e., there’s only a fixed and finite amount of cheating available in the universe, and the more the Dems (allegedly) apply to cheating Trump, the less there is available for cheating all the rest. This might suggest that the Dems could have allocated their available cheating more effectively – but given how close the President race has turned out, they may have done the best they could with it.

In all honesty the GOP might have a legitimate case here. That said, it would appear it will be a trivial number of votes.

I agree. But I also think this is a very good reason to wait to call it for PA.
No argument from me. But in truth, I’m far more worried about the precedent set by the upcoming SCOTUS ruling on this than its impact on the outcome of this particular election.
Finally a House flip! Carolyn Bourdeaux (D) won an open GA seat that had previously been R.
Why is CNN’s Electoral Map still showing Wisconsin and Michigan blue with white stripes on it? Could Michigan or Wisconsin possibly flip back to Trump?
OK. But if Republicans lose, or the court doesn’t hear the case, that would bode well for other suits
I am not worried about the courts overturning the election, except that I am worried about everything
Thanks for the clarification. I understand the point you were trying to make now.
I think the stripes indicate a flipped state
That just means they are states flipped vs. 2016
Interesting:
NBC was doing math on their big screen again and noted that Trump only has three paths to victory (Biden has 9) and Georgia is necessary to all of them. If he loses Georgia then the best he could hope for is a tie (he also needs PA in any scenario because if Biden gets PA Biden wins).
Huh. I offered the fifth grade team to teach an optional online class on Tuesday in which I’d explain the electoral college to kids and answer their questions. To forestall any worries, I drafted an email to send to parents, in which I set out discussion parameters:
- I will not tell students my opinions or otherwise promote a specific point of view.
- I will center the discussion on strong evidence from multiple, reliable sources.
- Students will be allowed to express their opinions, but must do so in a respectful manner.
- Students will be encouraged to support their opinions with strong evidence.
- Students will be encouraged to ask questions and to research answers to their questions.
- Parents and other non-students are of course welcome to listen in, but should not participate in the discussion. I am happy to talk with parents before or after the class discussion.
And thought that’d be that.
Nope: my principal just got an email from a parent saying that what I was doing was “completely inappropriate” and “should not be allowed.” She’s demanding to see the article I use, and once seeing it, demanding to know whether it’s from a liberal or conservative source, as though there’s no information about the electoral college except through a partisan lens.
Sigh.

That just means they are states flipped vs. 2016
Thanks. I was scared to death.

In all honesty the GOP might have a legitimate case here.
It’s legitimate only to the extent that a corrupt SCOTUS might let it pass. But the PA Supreme Court already ruled that ballots received until today are valid, and an 8-member SCOTUS turned it down once. This move would disenfranchise voters by changing the rules after the election started, and it boggles the mind to see the legitimacy of that.
