Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Currently 49.4% Trump, 49.2% Biden with 80% reporting.

The New York Times has its projection leaning Trump. I’ve no idea what their methodology is though.

Time to saw Florida off and kick it loose into the Caribbean a la Bugs Bunny.

Florida seems to be a lost case but I have to say Ohio is looking very good. Biden seems to be well ahead of Hillary in almost every county and generally by a bigger margin than her 8 point margin of defeat in 2016.

We’re okay if Biden can win NC. Would feel better if he took GA too

Ohio results with 49% of the vote counted:

Joseph R. Biden Jr.
1,697,077 55.3%

Donald J. Trump
1,333,695 43.5%

It was 51-43 for Loser Donald in 2016, so Biden is outperforming there.

I think we may be OK if Biden wins Ohio. That’s what I’m following.

I had Trump winning FL anyway - no real shocker

Oh man. These times are far too historically interesting for me.

One result you can be sure of: turnout is WAY up.

The NYT projection (which actually takes into account the mail-in vs live votes and which counties are remaining) has NC going for Trump, with the likelihood increasing every minute. GA is already over 80% likely for Trump. I wouldn’t count on either of those.

For everyone celebrating the OH results, I think those are heavily weighted toward the mail-in votes. As more votes are counted, it will shift red. ETA: NYT confirms that OH counts votes received before election day first, so they will be disproportionately Biden.

Ohio is definitely still unsure and if I had to bet ten bucks on it I’d bet on Trump even now, but it would be fair to say that Biden winning Ohio would be a much bigger win than winning Florida. It would also be really weird. That is not an arrangement of the map I’d have guessed would happen.

Hamilton County in Ohio is starting to report and Biden is doing very well there.

Now with 67% of the vote in N. Carolina:

Joseph R. Biden Jr.
2,077,550 52.8%

Donald J. Trump
1,811,990 46.1

When does AZ report? If Biden wins it he probably doesn’t need NC, GA, or FL

A better question, when does MI and WI report?

Not celebrating yet… The votes will definitely shift as the night goes on.

Then maybe posting an update every 5 minutes isn’t really helpful.

Fuck Florida.

Yeah I’m skeptical about Ohio. Until last year I pretty regularly went to Columbus on business. Although Biden does well with black voters in OH, it’s not as enthusiastic as what you find in other places and truth to tell, a lot of black support in some places has to do with outrage toward republicans at a local level more so than with adoration of Biden.
