But it does work that way for many good wines!
God bless ya. I tried the same sort of thing with Hannity last night. Got through about 10 minutes of his opening monologue, bitching about how it’s “the media slandering and making up nonsense to besmirch a sitting president”.
When I realized that he wasn’t joking and/or speaking ironically, I gave up. I’ll check back in with him only on his first show after we cross the 270 finish-line to see his official meltdown.
Trump’s chances are super slim.
Biden seems to have taken PA which is all he needs.
AZ margin is narrowing but there does not seem to be enough room left for Trump to win.
Add in all the other undecided states and Trump has only three vectors to win. Biden has nine.
At this point it seems there would need to be a dramatic turn in trends in several states for Trump to win. Not impossible but very much not likely either.
Trump will recount and litigate but it seems very nearly a lock that Biden as won.

I see Biden went from ~48k lead in AZ to glances at CNN only ~29k in AZ.
Is this something to be alarmed by or is there plenty of cushion?
IMO, Trump still has a chance in AZ. Long shot, but still a chance.
But it won’t matter. Biden wins PA. And probably NV.
Edit: Ninja’d by @Whack-a-Mole!
Looks like a Biden speech is about 15 minutes away. Likely to be a calm update, not a declaration of victory.

Then, in Trumpian fashion, you appoint him and let someone sue and then stonewall and drag it out for four years and then let the courts be in the position to try to unwind the last four years.
The whole point was to elect someone who would not be Trump.
Biden now a full .5 up in PA.
Is .5% the automatic trigger for a recount in PA?

The whole point was to elect someone who would not be Trump.
Ya know…I get that.
But what do you do when the other side flouts norms and institutions and the law and then tells you that YOU need to adhere to them because they are important and then, at the first opportunity, they go back to flouting all that stuff.
Put another way, imagine you are playing a football game where one team keeps going offsides. But no one calls it and they keep winning. Then you get control of the refs and all of a sudden offsides is bad. But as soon as the other side gets control they revert to blitzing the quarterback before the ball is snapped.
I would LOVE for the rules to matter but making only one side play by those rules is stupid.
I just watched the update on Maracopa County. I think I’m going to puke.
I missed it. What happened?
Biden speaking. Giving vote totals.
I’ve never heard one moment from that vile person that wasn’t…whatever lets not get into the details…but I have been wondering about how FOX News is going to handle this. I am living temporarily in a house where I overhear the, as I like to calll them, trio of fascists in the evening. And last night Hannity started his show about how he was going to give multiple instances of fraud, like one case where someone saw a postal worker joking about ballots and he was going to bring up other disturbing things, I didn’t stick around for the details. Overheard Tucker tonight, last night he was talking about suspicious votes. Tonight, in the 30 seconds I heard, he was takling about Democrats who say they are for free speech but want to suppress speech from anyone who disagrees withh them. He did not specify who “they” were. Not talking about fraud
So yeah, I think the management has maybe instructed them to move on from claiming fraud to demonizing Biden and the Dems. But it is something I have wondered about, FOX News during the day, while very conservative, does have actual jounalists, and they do bring Dems on to debate. What about in the evening, can the trio say anything they want, do they have final cut, or are there at least some restrictions, or at least suggestions, about their content?

Is this something to be alarmed by or is there plenty of cushion?
I’m going to just to pull some estimates completely out of my ass, which you or may not find comforting . But based on obsessively staring at the data and reading assorted half-educated prognostications - as of right now:
Chance Trump wins North Carolina: ~90%
Chance Biden wins Arizona: ~60%.
Chance Biden wins Georgia: ~80%.
Chance Biden wins Nevada: ~95%.
Chance Biden wins Pennsylvania: ~98% and getting better by the minute.
Chance Biden has won the presidency: 99+%.
It would take a series of phenomenally unlikely reverses to alter that last. Impossible? No, not technically and I think it is fine to let it play out and be cautious about making the call. But for all intents and purposes it is done, we’re just waiting for the final scorecard.
It sucks to not have the senate, and Mcconnell is an asshat. But other presidents have had to deal with trying to get appointments through an opposition senate. It’s one of the checks and balances. You compromise, or use other things as leverage to bargain.
And that, again, sucks. Which is why it was so important to win control. So, there should be a tremendous push to get GA to come through again with the special election. And more work to improve at the midterms. But for now, things will be harder because we didn’t get there this time.
The way to get both sides to follow the rules is to make not following them more costly. Reinforce the norm, but also figure out some changes – like put a law in place about what happens if the senate won’t move nominations, or change the vacancies act.
Biden sounds good.

I just watched the update on Maracopa County. I think I’m going to puke.
From Nate Rakich at 538:
We just got more than 70,000 votes in Maricopa County, Arizona, and Trump won them just 53 percent to 44 percent. That’s well behind the pace of about 58 percent that Trump needed to maintain in order to eventually take the lead in the state. A big blow to Trump’s chances here.

Starting with Obama the republicans pledged themselves to absolute obstruction.
You are living in a world that no longer exists.
