Toronto Hotel Is Scrapping the Trump Name (Published 2017)
JCF Capital, the new owner of the financially troubled Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto, will erase the president’s name from the building.
We’ll see.
You think that might soften a bit if McConnell were gone?
Nah…the republicans have already done it.
They have already pledged to keep doing it.
The republican playbook is now to oppose everything a democrat may put forward.
I was really impressed. He was a calming voice. You could even see the newscasters calming a little. He talked about how he is already working to find ways to get Covid under control so that the economy can grow. Then he said to be patient and trust the process. He talked about how he wouldn’t let the process be subverted and that the American people can do anything they want when they set their mind to it. It was more calming that I expected it to be.
I don’t know. Maybe. It takes a special kind of person (I think…I hope) to be as unrepentantly evil as Mitch McConnell. There truly has to be a special place in hell for this guy. As bad as Trump was for the country McConnell was worse…waaaay worse.
I seriously hope there aren’t others as malicious as McConnell but then McConnell wrote a new “Fuck You” playbook that the next majority leader is likely to follow.
Republicans have painted themselves into a corner. I don’t see that they have a way out.
Not quite (at least not on the NYT page).
I wonder if the networks have been waiting for the lead to be 0.5% and expected it to be much earlier but the vote counting slowed waaaaay down today.
It’s just so fucking nice to hear a President speak again
No fucking joke. I don’t hate DJT, but I hate Mitch. He is evil and destructive.
Quite, on MSNBC. ETA
Biden’s lead dropped by about 3%. Not enough to really give Trump a real chance, but I’d guess that 90% of the racists idiots in the country live in Arizona. I wouldn’t put anything beyond them.
Also, Trump wouldn’t be happy here …

In addition to his general extreme unpopularity, hundreds of investors are furious at having been fleeced on their investments in the Toronto Trump Hotel & Tower – no surprise there. Some who bought expensive condos hoping to rent or resell at exorbitant profits found there were no takers at half the price they had paid.
As I understand it, the person needs to have both been an employee/officer of the federal gov’t, and have be holding down a Senate confirmed position.
No, the Acting Secretary must be either a First Assistant (which isn’t defined) OR an official confirmed by the Senate OR a Senior Agency Official.
Thus we had this situation:
The White House purged Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and other top officials in the department in April, leaving it with almost no permanent, Senate-confirmed leaders. The acting secretary, Kevin McAleenan, is technically the commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Trump was able to exploit the FVRA to his advantage. That’s why in 2019 we had all these:
Acting Defense secretary
Acting DHS secretary
Acting UN ambassador
Acting SBA administrator
Acting chief of staff
Acting FEMA director
Acting ICE director
Acting USCIS director
Acting FAA administrator
Nor is the FVRA’s generous 210-day time limit a real obstacle: if the Senate rejects the first or second nomination, or the nomination is withdrawn, the clock starts again, and the acting head can remain another 210 days.
I’m not recommending Biden use these tactics. I just want to point out that the FVRA is, as Trump has proven, hardly impregnable.
No fucking joke. I don’t hate DJT, but I hate Mitch. He is evil and destructive.
Actually, I hate them both.
I saw Mitch on TV today. He does not look particularly healthy.

Sure sounded good, didn’t it?
I saw Mitch on TV today. He does not look particularly healthy.
Good!
We’ll see
We’ve seen.
…: put a law in place about what happens if the senate won’t move nominations, or change the vacancies act.
Mitch: “Nancy, what’s the point of this Executive Appointments Act that the House has passed?”
Nancy: “Well, Mitch, we’ve noticed that the Senate under your leadership was extremely obstructionist to President Obama, and we think you’ll be equally obstructionist to President Biden, so we’ve passed this bill to reduce the Senate’s abilities to block appointments by the President.”
Universe 1 Mitch: “Nancy, that’s a great idea! We’ll make sure the bill moves quickly for the President to sign!”
Universe 2 Mitch: “Interesting. No.” [sound of shredder beside Mitch’s desk]
Has anyone seen Mitch’s hands on camera in the last few days? Better? Worse?
I have been out of pocket all day. The first thing I hear on TV is that we had 125,000 new cases of the virus. No person in the current administration gives even one tenth of a shit.
The first rule of gangrene club is, don’t talk about gangrene club.
