Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

I would rate him 99th out of 46.

Other presidents, like Buchanan, have been incompetent. Other presidents, like Nixon, have been malevolent. But I think they all cared about the country. Trump is a unique combination of incompetence and malevolence.

And if I had a cannon I would fire it,
To add a sort of final victory touch,
But since I left my cannon at home,
I’ll simply have to say…
Thank you very, very, very much!!!

Another reason why it had to be Joe.

I can play cards again and ask “What’s trump?” without cringing.

In terms of their interest in helping the country, Trump is not just 45th, but a very distant 45th. (Even if you count Biden, there have only been 45 presidents. Cleveland is counted twice but he is not actually two people.)

You can argue Trump caused less material damage than Buchanan, I suppose. I’m not saying that’s a argument I am convinced of, but you can make it. It wasn’t for lack of trying though, and I am 100% certain had he been re-elected he’d have blown Buchanan out of the water.

Can Trump still win if he takes it to court and wins there?

I guess nothing’s impossible. That would probably be the end of American democracy.

“Takes it to court” on what grounds? Even if some states do recounts, most of them are out of the range a recount would make a difference.

Still ahead in Georgia by 7,500 with 99% reporting. I’d love to see him seal that one for “cushion” and also to get to that magical 306 which, based on 2016 results, qualifies to Trump as a “landslide”.

Judging by how quickly his dumb lawsuits are getting slapped down, I’m optimistic in the integrity of the courts. He has no case beyond, “I really, really want to be President.”

I heard pundits on both CNN and MSNBC say that Georgia might not be called until a recount is completed.

Do you think GA is going to call it before the recount?

Edit: ninja’d!

I believe that even if trump wins every lawsuit and both recounts he still loses.

I am also in the camp of Trump’s portrait going up. Can someone please paint this?

This is my favorite thing. He made such a big deal of the “you’re fired” catchphrase. I love that it can now be used on him.

So relieved - finally. Still worried because there are so many bullshit obstacles yet to come but this is a good start.

Some of the networks have said they won’t call a state if it’s inside the recount margin. This was one of the reasons given for waiting to call Pennsylvania. So Georgia might not be called at all by those networks.

If the final tally of this initial count has Biden up several thousand votes, as it is now, then a recount isn’t going to change anything.

Maybe the portrait could be the “dejected trump” version instead of the “smug smile” version.

I really, really, really want Biden to get to 306.

“We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the electoral college, I guess the final number is 306." - DJT, December 2016

Thanks for the reminder about the recount. Duh.

I wonder the logistics of that - does Biden start out with any kind of “advantage” if he ends this step with a 7,000 vote lead?

For example, do they go back through and unless they find 7,000 ballots that were marked as Biden (and shouldn’t have been), then Biden wins?

Or do they scrap everything, pull all the ballots back out, start both guys at 0 and begin counting from there?

Not sure if my question makes sense in print - in my head it does though.

This, I believe, is the answer.
