Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

And Fox News has made the fastest pivot I’ve ever seen, they’ve been acting like a legitimate, if conservative, news organization all day now. I think they had a “Come to Jesus” moment after his WH presser where he alleged massive fraud and declared victory.

The NY Post may have reached the end of their rope, too. They just published this piece outlining his incredible accomplishments and urging him to step aside with dignity.

My message to conservatives. not directed at the OP

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Where have you been for the past four years? We’ve been trying to tell you there was something wrong with him. Not because we were haters. We didn’t particularly want Mike Pence either, but we knew he wasn’t an actual danger. We knew what Trump was. You just accused us of persecuting him and wouldn’t listen.

You put your party on the line for him, backing his increasingly outrageous behavior. You were happy to set the bar at “not technically illegal” and to push that boundary.

You didn’t know what we knew all long. You should’ve know, but you deluded yourselves.

As long as you aren’t useful to him anymore, he’s done with you. He doesn’t care about his legacy. He doesn’t care about the future of the Republican Party. He doesn’t care about Senate and Congressional majorities and the two Georgia seats. He doesn’t care about history.

All he cares about is revenge. On you. You didn’t stand behind him when the election was stolen from him. You caused him to suffer the greatest humiliation of his life. Because you refused to overthrow our democracy for him.

This will become apparent in the weeks ahead. Good luck, I’ll be watching.
This may be wishful thinking on my part, but I’m hoping for epic level crazy. The battle lines have been drawn and Trump’s not dangerous to me anymore. Only to you. We may get the Senate yet.

Biden supporters gather outside Trump National Golf Club with “You’re fired” signs

If you stand on a crowded fucking stage do you take off your mask?

Every time I see this phrase, my mind reads it as ‘post-it notes.’

“Mail-in votes”, please!!

Totally. I had a pretty long post typed out for the COVID update thread, but didn’t want to be “that guy”, so abandoned it. But if we’re being honest with each other, these non-socially-distant celebrations in our cities are only going to add to the “whole lotta hurt” that Fauci said will happen. Masks only do so much. It would have been nice if either Biden or Harris would have said something about that. It would be sad if the only difference between Biden’s and Trump’s response to the virus is their view on mask use.

Just the usual competence of Team Trump.

When journalists arrived at the site of the news conference, they were flabbergasted by the scene and many quickly speculated that someone in the Trump campaign made a serious mistake. After all, the parking lot of a landscaping business in the outskirts of the city in an industrial part of town was a drab backdrop for a news conference by a president who wanted to convince Americans he still had a chance of winning. And making matters even stranger, the landscaping business was between an adult bookstore and a cremation center.

OK, yes, he should have put his mask back on right away after finishing his speech. Yes, he should have, for the optics, if nothing else. Happy that someone agrees with you?

Nevermind. I see we are in It’s OK If A Democrat Does It territory. I’ll drop it here.

It was all family to start. His circle.

The twisted argument is that the mail in votes were cast BEFORE that date, and only votes cast ON Election Day are constitutional, or something.

It’s not my theory, they are batshit crazy and desperate and for some reason Trump thinks the Supreme Court is his rubber stamp

Scrolling down from the above-linked tweet, saw this one:

No, it would not be okay with me if a Democrat politicized mask-wearing, making it a symbol of one’s ideology rather than something that all Americans should do as a matter of personal and public safety. It would not be all right if a Democrat mocked his opponent for wearing a mask, implying he was weak for taking precautions.

I dunno, did anyone we know ever do anything like that?

If every person on the stage near me were my wife, children, and grandchildren, perhaps. It would depend on if they were people in my “close contact” bubble. For me personally that currently includes my immediate family, my parents, my wife’s parents, and my brother and his family. All of those I interact with without masks (but usually with reasonable social distancing when possible). If one of us becomes ill and tests positive for COVID-19 then we will all quarantine as close contacts (depending on when we last say each other relative to the onset of symptoms).

I would also certainly consider the duration - from what I’ve read of the literature the risk rises pretty quickly with duration of close contact. I think our school is using 15 minutes as the cutoff (I think that was CDC, but may have been state guidance). That’s the choice we have made to continue to function as a family unit.

I believe this is all within CDC guidance and perfectly reasonable. If you have guidance to the contrary that’s fine.

Anyway, Joe wore a mask when he walked out. He took it off for his speech. He kept it off while standing with his family watching fireworks. Then he put it back on before he walked out to be with other people again. I’m 100% OK with that. But I can see why you would prefer he put it back on again after his speech.

Look! Compromise! Just like Joe asked for.

You are 100% correct. I’ve watched Fox more in the past two days than I have in the past four years, for obvious reasons. Somebody (don’t know who) stated today that Trump had better campaign for the two R senate candidates in Georgia, or he would lose all support of the party. And Karl Rove, of all people, was practically gushing with praise at Biden’s speech. I couldn’t believe it.

According to CBS just now, there’s evidence that in the suburbs surrounding Philadelphia, where Biden outperformed Clinton, there was a significant number of Biden voters who voted for Republicans down ticket.

Trump assured me that after election day no one would be talking about Covid-19 and yet you all are talking about it on Nov. 7. Was Trump incorrect?

Has Trump ever been correct?

I would love to hear the back story on this. It’s too surreal to be a “mistake”.

Sorry, when I saw “Pima” I optimistically misread the rest of the post as Biden picking up margin. In any case, I calculate the Pinal vote as 67% Trump with 17k left from that county.

That last batch you posted I have at 52% Trump.

Really would like to see some Pima results to see if they held.
