Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

This, this, this.

Agreed in principle, but …

He has 70,000,000 supporters. RW news media definitely won’t ignore him.

Imagine a last few lame duck CFSG months when no members of the fourth estate are watching him closely and holding him to account.

Looks like a scene from Parks & Recreation. Photoshop in a few raccoons, and it’ll look just like Councilman Dexhart’s district in Pawnee.

Thanks! & thanks, Whack-a-Mole.

It is interesting- it is Ok to use that- but there are some who would have posters banned for using “democrat party”.

Very poor reporting. It doesn’t say whether Biden owns any golf courses or not.

I’m wondering how much of a fight Trump is actually going to put up, with regard to contesting the election results. I found his remark that they would start fighting on Monday (that’s a paraphrase, but I think it accurately captures what he said) to be telling.

Trump is the guy who is always going to reveal something/do something tomorrow or next week. How many times during his presidency has he claimed he has big news that he’ll tell us in the next few days, or a health care plan he’ll release next month, or proof of Biden’s corruption he’ll show us later in the week?

Seems to me that a truly committed effort wouldn’t “start on Monday.” It would already be underway. Trump wouldn’t be golfing, he’d be in conference with attorneys and handlers, mapping out how his messaging would dovetail with the legal strategies. Sure, papers might be filed Monday morning when the courts (I assume) open, but the work wouldn’t be starting then.

Anyway, just a thought. If I’m wrong I won’t be all that surprised.

Factual accuracy IS often a pretty good defense.

That said, making “Democrat Party” a bannable term is kind of a goofy idea.

Except that nobody is pretending that “Cheetoh-Faced Shit Gibbon” isn’t a deliberate insult, are they?

I was having very similar thoughts today. It all feels a bit half-assed, like he and his surrogates are just saying what they need to say to keep up the “it really won” facade going forward.

File a few frivolous lawsuits to get thrown out by those liberal judges, put some pressure on some other politicians (like PA GOP house members) so you can blame those traitors for not stepping up, and then ride off into the sunset as a glorious leader stabbed in the back.

At least where I live, many Trump supporters seem quite lazy to me. Now that the excitement of rebellion has left, they will need to go back to their lives, which most of them possess in all its affluent abundance: golf, dinner parties, shopping etc… Upper middle class people are not made for too much upheaval. They aren’t hungry enough. But I am just speaking of a specific demographic here.

Biden picked up about about 800 from Apache County. Haven’t heard from Pima yet, hopefully if Pima plus what’s left of Apache and Santa Cruz can mostly balance the remainder then Biden will only lose another 3k or so and end up + 17k.

I don’t know, I think he’s getting ready to take the crazy into high gear.

I seem to be in the minority here, or maybe the prospect of him going so cray-cray that his own party has to Article 25 him is just too delicious and making me giddy.

But I don’t understand the people that think he’s going to pivot and accept reality. Have they not met him? Remember this is the guy that still bitter because in 1987 some guy told him his fingers were short. Yesterday, 100 million people were dancing in the streets calling him a loser. He’s gonna crack up.

Nice. Pima could decide it.

@Ann_Hedonia: The crazy can go into high gear without him mounting a coherent strategy to contest the election - in fact, babbling insanity goes rather nicely with ineffective pursuit of legal remedies. I’m just questioning whether he’s willing to work hard; it wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t.

I read/heard that he has been pushing for lawsuits all week but his staff keep telling him there is no point (they know they have no case). I have no cite for that though.

He’ll doubtless have recounts wherever possible but almost everyone says they will not work either (they rarely net more than a few hundred changed votes and while the votes are close they are not that close).

The historical gap in Arizona:

Do you see any estimate of the remaining ballots to be counted?

I agree but he needs his minions to do his bidding and if they start refusing then I am not sure what he can really do.

I have no doubt he will want to make as much a mess of things as he can though.

Trump is not going to quit fighting. In fact, I suspect he will continue to fight this lawful outcome for the rest of his life. So says Michael Cohen, who conducted an interview this morning on MSNBC. He knows a thing or two about Trump and how he will react. Trump may leave the White House, but he is never going to stop pushing the false narrative of how he really won the 2020 election.

Why:

NY AG Letitia James has a staggering list of pending actions to file against Trump, both civil and criminal. What faces Trump upon the end of his “presidency” is bankruptcy and prison. Not just for him, but his children, too. None of this includes any federal charges that may crop up soon, irrespective of whether there is an official US AG in the job. It will be karma of epic proportions.

So no, he is not going to stop fighting through any means possible. I expect he is going to attempt to hold important state secrets hostage in exchange for non-prosecution agreements for some federal charges, at the least. (And would probably renege on his end of the bargain even if the Biden Administration were to agree.)

I believe it’s going to be a very bumpy ride for the next 70+ days.
