Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Well, they do have to file something in response, but they probably can just file a boilerplate motion to dismiss. When your allegations are as anemic as theirs, judges will tend to act pretty quickly. And even right-wing judges don’t like dealing with obviously frivolous suits that are being used to delay a lawful process.

Going on to Barr – elections are the purview of the states. It seems the previous policy was to only step in if the state did not deal with the issue. I think it should probably take something extraordinary to change that – like evidence that state investigators were turning a blind eye to clear evidence of substantial fraud. Appeasing the fragile ego of a president who can’t accept reality . . . well, it is extraordinary, but it should not have caused a change in the policy.

It looks like Trump is not going to go quietly. His reflex is always to double down.

Four Seasons Total Landscaping is cashing in!

They have stickers, t-shirts, and hoodies on sale.

He shouldn’t think of it as resignation - he should think of it as two months’ unpaid leave. In fact, that’s a choice a lot of government agency employees are facing: quit now and get your job back later, or be fired for good in January.

I’m so going to get a Lawn and Order t-shirt.

In Maracopa AZ, there is a lawsuit over less than 200 votes. Can we please get this fucking over with already?!?

TIL, with much thanks.
Heh, and with KH in there - a fine team!

Why am I getting annoying nagging conspiratorial worries about Pima Conty? Like some hopped-up boogaloo / militia group descending swat-like on the Pima County Elections Department Building to defend the liberty of having the right kind of poll monitors or something. But really - to sow enough chaos to accidentally-on-purpose attempt to maybe spur on Donald to announce that “the election’s totally thrown off big-time now. Election off.”
(Hey - paranoiac’s gotta paranoid!)

Trying to imagine any battleground legislators suicidally bringing out the kneepads “to get ready to do their constitutional duty”, as tweeted by whoever dorkstick Mark R. Levin is:

Pardon the caps - I wasn’t gonna type it out again.

I just can’t see any of them being stupid enough to jeopardize their careers, which will so definitely happen if they switch a decision. What would be in it for them, if they did?

Careers? Doing that would jeopardize their lives. I can imagine the Philly public going all De Witt brothers on any legislator who tried to steal the election.

They also wore black-and-white striped shirts and black robber masks, had long skinny mustaches that they twirled while they cackled evilly, and the fake ballots were kept in a big sack marked “SWAG”.

Nope, and I’m afraid other republicans are going to see this as an opportunity to a) weaken the incoming president-elect, and b) audition to be Trump’s heir apparent.

But if you thought the madness in this country was over…think again.

More evidence of Trump lunacy. As if any more were needed.

Three tweets:

As I have long said, @Pfizer and the others would only announce a Vaccine after the Election, because they didn’t have the courage to do it before. Likewise, the @US_FDA should have announced it earlier, not for political purposes, but for saving lives!

" If Joe Biden were President, you wouldn’t have the Vaccine for another four years, nor would the @US_FDA have ever approved it so quickly. The bureaucracy would have destroyed millions of lives!"

" The @US_FDA and the Democrats didn’t want to have me get a Vaccine WIN, prior to the election, so instead it came out five days later – As I’ve said all along!"

Gigantic paranoia and conspiracy theories there, with an obvious contradiction between them.

Pfizer was not even part of Operation Warp Speed…

Looking for real answer here. I keep seeing people say:

"Why do the ‘fraud claimers’ only see fraud in the presidential election, but widely accept the Republican gains in the House and pretty good showing in the Senate?"

What is the response from the fraud-believers on that question?

Stating the obvious, but Trump’s behavior now, especially given the fact that most states will begin certifying election results showing that he LOST, is completely disqualifying.

He is no longer a legitimate president or head of the government as far as I am concerned. Might be 25 amendment time.

It is, but it’s ludicrous that we have to wait until January 20.

I wish the Electoral College would vote Dec. 1, followed by the inauguration. Totally time for this change to happen. I mean, even with the vote date as is, no reason to wait until January 20 anymore.

I think that explains why state level republican officials are not (yet) nearly as enthusiastic about declaring fraud as congressional republicans are. They’re rightly worried that republicans are more concerned with keeping Trump in power than they are with maintaining a grip at the state level and that once their dirty work is done, the national party will forget them at the state level.

Maybe they’ve not worked out those details yet, but perhaps will in time. That’s why I think that the longer this gets kicked around among the right wing, the worse it gets. States need to hurry the fuck up, count votes, do a recount if necessary, and certify the election. My concern is that in states like Georgia, they could drag their feet, not certify the election, and then claim that the legislature and governor will need to select alternate delegates. This could be something that is tried in other states as well.

This election, despite what people think, is not over. Or more accurately, the election over, but the final steps in the process of selecting the president are not – two different things. And while I would acknowledge that the chances of a legislative and court coup succeeding are quite remote, the damage that could be done to Biden’s perceived legitimacy could be devastating.

Down-ticket voting.

The believers say there’s no way so many people would have voted split ticket.

IIRC this vaccine was developed in Germany.

Logical consistency is not a hallmark of conservative thinking. Indeed, I’d say the complete opposite is.

It’s weird too. You can point this out to a Trumpian, they will blink once or twice as their brain does not compute, and then they will continue telling you how the election was stolen.

Not to mention the fact that the FDA hasn’t approved anything yet. Pfizer hasn’t even applied for approval yet. They are planning to submit their application for emergency use authorization “after the third week of November.”

I think I read something I can no longer source. Is it true the DOJ said they would investigate Trump’s claims of fraud? Should we be worried?
