Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Cohen has predicted this; Trump won’t return to the White House after Christmas.

AP hasn’t called Arizona.
And Fox called it early, which was risky - the race has been tightening since they called it, and it’s not all all a sure thing that Biden will win.

The AP was among the first to call AZ, along with Fox.

Pretty sure it’s not left to Donny to pack his things. No one need direct them, apparently White House staff simply pack and box their things and deliver them to…wherever. All done by Inauguration Day, when Pres Elect’s things get brought in.

I agree he’s gonna make mucho chaos and then slink off to Mara Lago and just not return. But cities may well be on afire, troops in the streets, well before then.

I don’t understand how Trump can demand a second recount in GA if they are already conducting a hand recount at his request. This seems stupid.

Sorry, I meant New York Times.

The hand-recount was pushed by Trump, but it wasn’t a formal request by the campaign. This recount was ordered by the Secretary of State. (The lobbying by Trump and the two GA Senate candidates had nothing to do with it. /sarcasm)

[ETA: ninja’d]

No, the hand recount soon to be underway is by request of the State of Georgia. Whether Mr. Trump can ask for a second (machine) recount after a manual recount has already finished is an open legal question.

They’re not – GA is independently conducting an audit. When that’s done, the loser can request a second recount.

Yeah, I think that’s what’s going to happen - He still not ever going to concede but I bet he’ll “continue the fight from the winter White House”.

I wonder if he’ll try to do something opposite Biden’s inauguration. Maybe while Biden is being inaugurated on the National Mall, he can have an inauguration at the Mall of America, they have escalators he can ride.

Please don’t ever stop posting!

And off to the food court afterward! Burger King AND Sbarro’s!

Looks like another 4800 votes were posted in Arizona. Biden’s lead increased slightly to 12828.

That’s at least moving in the right direction.

Looks like those are from Pima County - their estimated provisional vote total just dropped from 15k to 10k.

So how many outstanding ballots yet to count in AZ? And all they are provisional?

Estimate for AZ Secretary of State is 40k uncounted ballots:

  • 15k “Ready for Tabulation” in Maricopa county
  • 22k provisional, 10k in Pima, 6k in Maricopa, the rest in Apache, Cochise, and Yuma
  • 3k “Waiting for signature verification” - not sure why these are still showing as outstanding, the deadline for signature verification was 5pm yesterday (as was the deadline for provisional ballots for missing ID at the polls).

Some of that recent batch were the last 340 votes from Yavapai County.

Thank you, that makes sense.

Anyone have an explanation about North Carolina? They don’t seem close enough to require a recount, and it doesn’t seem likely to me that Democrats would demand it.

All the military I’ve known fully understand the meaning of “chain of command”. They don’t follow orders from me. The don’t follow orders from some guy claiming to be President. The idea that the US military would come out to support a disordered chain of command is a fantasy.

What I’m hearing on the news for Wake County is that there are some last-minute absentee ballots to count, and that they’re still processing provisional and other ballots that require special handling (it’s been insinuated that many of these are being rejected, such as a ballot mailed in from out-of-state to an in-state relative, who then dropped it at a polling place).
